Conventionally, the tip of a balloon catheter has been processed by inserting a pipe or rod having approximately the same diameter as the pressure cavity in advance so as not to deform the pressure cavity. However, if these pipes or rods are removed after the tip has been processed, the bore diameter of the tip will naturally gradually decrease. Furthermore, when the balloon is wrapped with an attachment thread or the like when attaching the balloon, the tension of the thread may deform or contract the inner cavity of the balloon cavity or the inner cavity of the pressure cavity. This causes problems such as worsening of the balloon's inflation/deflation response and pressure response. others,
A method has also been proposed in which a metal ring is attached to the surface of the balloon and the balloon is wrapped with a thread over the metal ring, but this method cannot prevent the spontaneous contraction of the cavity at the tip of the catheter.

Further, in the present invention, a cylindrical reinforcing member is fixed to the inner surface of each lumen over at least the entire portion covered with the balloon, and the inner diameter of the reinforcing member is connected to the lumen before and after the reinforcing member. A method for manufacturing a balloon catheter, characterized in that the balloon catheter has the same inner diameter as the catheter and is connected by a substantially smooth surface,
A cylindrical reinforcing member is inserted into a necessary lumen of a catheter body for a balloon catheter having a plurality of inner diameters so as to include at least a balloon-covered portion, and then the tip portion including the balloon-covered portion is reduced in diameter. The present invention provides a method for manufacturing a balloon catheter, which is characterized in that the tip is processed and a balloon is attached to the reduced diameter portion with the reinforcing member left in place.

Note that it is preferable that the inner cavity of the reinforcing member has the same inner diameter as the inner cavity communicating therewith, and that they are connected to each other by forming a smooth surface. Further, the reinforcing member is preferably made of an antithrombotic material or antithrombotic treated material (for example, heparin, silicone, etc.).The reinforcing member may be made of plastic, as long as it is heat resistant and hard enough to withstand tip processing.
Metal materials etc. can be selected as appropriate. The reinforcing member is cylindrical, and the word cylindrical here refers to a broad concept including pipe-like, coil-like, mesh-like cylinders, and the like.

[Function] According to the present invention, a cylindrical reinforcing member is inserted into the lumen of the distal end of the balloon catheter, and the lumen is contracted.
Since deformation is prevented, deterioration of the balloon's expansion/contraction response, measured pressure response, etc. can be prevented, and the tip processing can be facilitated.

FIG. 1 shows a balloon catheter 1 according to the present invention.
The tip of the balloon 2 is shown. This tip part has a nearly convex tip 1a.
, a narrow diameter part 1b formed adjacent to this, a balloon 2 provided so as to cover this narrow diameter part 1b and fixed with a thread 3, and a pressure measurement cavity 1c, for example, opened at the tip 1a. and a balloon cavity 1 that opens at the narrow diameter portion 1b and communicates with the inside of the balloon 2.
d, a pipe-shaped first reinforcing member 4 fitted into the tip (including the balloon attachment part) of the pressure measurement cavity 1c, and a pipe-shaped first reinforcing member 4 fitted into the tip (including the balloon attachment part) of the balloon cavity 1d. It is composed of a pipe-shaped second reinforcing member 5 inserted therein. These first and second reinforcing members 4 and 5 have the same inner diameter as the inner diameters of the communicating inner cavities 1c and 1d, respectively, and are connected to form a smooth surface.

First, as shown in FIG. 3, the first and second reinforcing members 4 and 5 are fitted in advance into the necessary lumens 7 and 8 of the catheter body 1' for a balloon catheter, which has a plurality of lumens formed therein. . In this case, lumens 7, 8
As shown in FIG. 4, only the insertion portions of the reinforcing members 4 and 5 are formed larger than the other portions by the thickness of the reinforcing members 4 and 5. Note that the reinforcing member 4 is installed below the tip processed portion 1b' (FIG. 5).
Next, the diameter is reduced by a predetermined length by heat forming using a glass mold or a metal mold (see FIG. 5). Note that harmonic waves or high frequency waves may be used for this diameter reduction process. Next, with a stainless steel tubular body (not shown) that can be divided into two in the longitudinal direction inserted into this reduced diameter portion, the tip 1a is shaped into a convex shape such as a mushroom shape using a glass or metal mold. Process the tip. At this time, it is preferable that the uppermost end of the reinforcing member 4 coincides with the most distal end of the catheter. In this case as well, any method such as thermoforming, ultrasonic processing, high frequency processing, etc. may be used. Furthermore, the balloon cavity 1d is installed at a predetermined location.

As detailed above, according to the present invention, the reinforcing member is inserted into the required lumen of the catheter, so the lumen contracts during and after processing the tip of the balloon catheter, and when attaching the balloon. Or there is no risk of deformation. Therefore, there is no risk of deterioration of the balloon inflation/deflation response or the measured pressure response as in the prior art.
