からギフト券を1枚ずつ送り出すようにしたギフ
ト券の厚み検出方法において、前記挿入方向搬送
時および逆方向搬送時の厚み検知を共に前記挿入
方向後端部の厚み検知用部分にて行うことを特徴
とし、本発明のギフト券識別装置は、データ記録
部が挿入方向に沿つたラインとして券面上に形成
されると共に挿入方向の先端部および後端部に厚
み検知用部分が形成されたギフト券が挿入口から
挿入され、該ギフト券を挿入方向に搬送して1枚
ずつ保留部に送り込むと共に、該ギフト券の返却
時には、挿入方向とは逆方向に搬送して該保留部
からギフト券を1枚ずつ送り出すための搬送手段
と、前記挿入方向搬送時に前記データ記録部のデ
ータを読み取つて真偽を判別するためのデータ検
出センサと、前記挿入方向搬送時および逆方向搬
送時にギフト券の厚みを検知するための厚み検知
センサとを備えたギフト券識別装置において、前
記厚み検知センサを、前記挿入方向後端部の厚み
検知用部分にて厚み検知する位置に設けたことを
