せて用いるクリーニングローラの改良に関する。

間転写体のクリーニングは、表面が比較的硬度高
く滑らかに形成されるトナー像形成体や定着押圧
ローラのクリーニングとは異なり、ブレードや耐
熱布を用いる摺擦方法では十分なクリーニング効
果が得られないし、また転写面が傷付き易い。そ
のために、金属の方がシリコンゴム等の転写層よ
りもトナーの付着力が大きいことを利用した中間
転写体のクリーニング方法がUSP3649992号明細
書により知られている。その方法は、中間転写体
に金属円筒を接触回転させて中間転写体のクリー
ニングを行うものであるが、なお十分満足すべき
クリーニング効果が得難いし、転写面を損耗し易
いと云う問題がある。

表面に感光体を有するものとなり、潜像形成機構
2は感光体の表面を一様帯電させる帯電機構とそ
の帯電面に原稿画像の投影を行う露光機構とを備
えたものとなる。また、静電記録法によるもので
ある場合は、トナー像形成体1は表面に導電性基
体と誘電体表層からなる誘電体を有するものとな
り、潜像形成機構2は画像信号に従つて誘電体表
面に静電潜像を形成するマルチスタイラス電極ま
たはイオン制御電極を備えたものとなる。また、
磁気記録法によるものである場合は、トナー像形
成体1は表面に磁性体を有するものとなり、潜像
形成機構2は画像信号に従つて磁性体表面に磁気
潜像を形成する磁化ヘツドを備えたものとなる。
そして、以上により像形成体1に形成される潜像
が静電潜像の場合は、乾式現像機構3はトナーを
静電潜像の電荷と反対極性に帯電させてトナー像
形成体1の表面に供給するものとなり、クリーニ
ング機構12は像形成体1の表面の除電機構と残
存トナーの除去機構とを備えたものとなる。ま
た、潜像が磁気潜像の場合は、乾式現像機構3は
磁性トナーをトナー像形成体1の表面に供給する
ものとなり、クリーニング機構12はトナー像形
成体1の表面の消磁ヘツドと残存トナーの除去機

向を示すことによつて得られるものと考えられ

は、相当永い間使用してもクリーニング性能が低
下せず、また中間転写体4の表面を損耗させるこ
とも少く、そして安価に得られるから交換も気軽
にできると云う多くの優れた特長を有する。な
