Such a horizontally rotating type generally has openings at both ends on the axis of rotation for insertion of the cathode part, and
It is widely known to have a cylindrical body having a side wall with a large number of perforations for the circulation of plating solution, supply of electrolytic current, and drainage, and an opening/closing part for loading and unloading of the workpiece.

The barrel containing the workpiece is immersed in the plating bath with its axis of rotation horizontal, and rotated or rocked, and the cathode inserted through the opening so as to make electrical contact with the workpiece inside. (c) Workpieces tend to get clogged or remain in the opening/closing part, which becomes foreign matter and gets mixed into the next lot, causing defects. (d) A large amount of washing is required when washing the workpieces in the barrel with water. (e) When drying the workpiece, it is necessary to transfer the workpiece inside the barrel to a centrifugal dryer, etc., resulting in a decrease in productivity. At the same time, there were problems such as preventing the introduction of automation and robotization of a series of barrel plating processes.

We are developing a barrel for the barrel plating process, which consists of an empty body with openings for liquid flow and supply of electrolytic current, and a perforation on the side wall for draining water.

The barrel loaded with the workpiece is immersed in the plating bath and rotated or rocked so that the axis of rotation passing through both openings is substantially horizontal, and electrical contact is made with the workpiece inside from the opening. A method is adopted in which electricity is supplied between the cathode section inserted in such a manner and an anode section disposed in the plating bath so as to face both openings. Further, in the barrel improved in this way, the barrel is tilted and the workpiece is carried out through the downwardly directed opening.

However, with conventional horizontal rotating barrels, including the improved barrels as described above, when processing particularly fine workpieces, some of the workpieces may fit into the perforations in the side walls and become clogged. There were problems in that some workpieces were not sufficiently plated, and that clogged workpieces remained as they were and mixed into the workpieces of the next lot, resulting in defects.

Also, as mentioned above, the conventional horizontal rotating barrel cannot easily handle the situation.

In order to solve the above problems, the barrel for barrel plating process according to the present invention is a horizontally rotating barrel for barrel plating process, and includes at least insertion of a cathode section, insertion and removal of a workpiece, and It has openings for the circulation of plating solution, supply of electrolytic current, and drainage after processing, and is characterized by having a side wall without perforations and having a porous cover over one opening.

After a workpiece is introduced into the barrel through its opening, it is immersed in a plating bath so that its rotational axis is horizontal, and then rotated or swung around its rotational axis by a motor or the like. It will be done. Further, the cathode part is inserted through the opening so as to be in contact with the workpiece inside, while the anode part is arranged so as to face both the openings, and electricity is applied between the two electrodes to perform barrel plating.

Furthermore, since there is no such perforation in the side wall, there is no problem of clogging of fine workpieces. In addition, in order to enable smoother distribution of plating solution and supply of electrolytic current, the gap between both openings should be shortened to the extent that the structure allows, the barrel itself should be made smaller, and the opening should be made smaller relative to the barrel diameter. It is preferable to take a large part. The overall shape of the barrel is cylindrical, tapering from the center to both ends, in order to facilitate the loading and unloading of workpieces and to ensure that the loaded workpieces roll smoothly and are stably held inside. A shaped body or a rectangular cylindrical body is preferable.

The material may be selected as appropriate from among materials that do not interfere with the flow of the plating liquid or the supply of electrolytic current. At the same time, it can be used satisfactorily by adjusting the inclination of the barrel so that the workpiece does not spill out from the exposed part. In that case, during barrel plating, even if a porous cover is used, which has a slightly poor distribution of plating solution, the exposed openings mentioned above will promote the distribution of plating solution, and the porous cover will allow the plating solution to flow. It is also possible to compensate for the lack of sex.

As described above, the barrel for the barrel plating process according to the present invention does not have any perforations in the side wall unlike the conventional ones, and it is not only possible to insert the cathode part but also to take in and out the workpiece.
The distribution of plating solution, the supply of electrolytic current, and even the draining of water after processing are all performed through large openings at both ends, and the draining is effectively done through a porous cover to prevent the workpiece from spilling outside. It will be done.
