以下、本発明の実施例を説明する。第1図、第
2図はそれぞれ本発明の一実施例を示すフアクシ
ミリ装置のカバー構造を概略的に示す断面図及び
斜視図である。同図において、1は機構部つま
り、読取部、記録部、電源部等を固定するための
機構部側板である。この機構部側板1は後述する
ように、その間に基板を配置する必要がないの
で、従来の側板21に比べて若干短く形成でき
る。2A,2Bは下部カバーであり、下部カバー
2Aは下部カバー2Bに対し、回転軸13を中心
に旋回可能である。下部カバー2A,2Bは全体
として、平坦部2a、その周囲の垂直部2b及び
固定用フランジ部2cからなる下方に突出した形
状のもので、フランジ部2cを側板1にビス8で
固定して取付けられている。5は基板であり、ビ
ス7により下部カバー2Aの平坦部2aに取付け
られる。基板5の取付位置は、垂直部2bで囲ま
れた空間内である。従つて、第1図に示すよう
に、垂直部2bの間隔を機構部側板1の間隔より
も大きくすることにより、基板5の大きさを大き
くすることが可能となる。基板5の保守上、基板
5を保持した下部カバー2Aはビス8を外し、回
転軸13を中心に回転させることにより開閉可能
となつている。下部カバー2Aの垂直部2bには
外部接続用コネクタ9が配置されている。この位
置は基板5に隣接した位置であるので、外部接続
用コネクタ9は直接基板5に接続される。かくし
て、従来の電線やコネクタが必要なくなり、コス
トダウンが図れる。3は上部カバーであり、機構
部基板1に適当なブラケツト、ビス(図示せず)
等により固定されている。第1図に示すように、
上部カバー3の高さも、従来に比べ、機構部側板
1に応じて若干低くされている。このように、下
部カバー2A,2Bを下方に突出した形状とした
ことにより、機構部側板1、上部カバー3の高さ
を減少させることができ、フアクシミリ装置全体
の容積を小さくでき、また、フアクシミリ装置の
