If it is turned on, the process proceeds to step S2, and the CPU 5 controls the switch control device 12. The switch SW1 is connected to the speaker side via the switch SW1, and if SW2 is not turned on, the control ends.

As is clear from the above description, according to the present invention, various alarm sounds, which were generated by installing a dedicated sound source, can be generated using a modem, which is indispensable for data communication equipment, thereby making it possible to generate alarm sounds that were not previously required. This eliminates the need for a sound source dedicated to generating signal sounds, which simplifies the configuration of the device and reduces costs. Also, when making the modem emit an alarm sound, the modem output can be switched to the speaker side. When the output of the alarm sound is finished, the output of the modem is switched to the public line side, which has the excellent effect of eliminating unnecessary sounds other than the alarm sound from the speaker means.
