【発明の詳細な説明】 〔産業上の利用分野〕 この発明は流体回路の開閉及び切り換えのためのボール
バルブに弁体として使用されるボールの改良に関するも

ールの製造に当つては、切削作業による鋳造作業による

業による場合は、第3図(a)(b)(c)に示すように、適宜
寸法に切断された断面円形の棒材a(同図(a))を、機
械切削して球状体bとし(同図(b))、機械切削によつ
て内部通孔cを形成(同図(c))して作られる。また鋳
造作業による場合は、第4図(a)(b)(c)に示すように、
鋳型dに溶かした材料eを流し込み(同図(a))、固ま
つた後、鋳型から鋳造品fを取り出し(同図(b))、そ
の取り出した鋳造品を機械加工して製品のボールgとす
るものである。なお上記のほかにパイプからプレス作業
によつてボールを作る方法も提案されており、これは第
5図(a)(b)(c)に示すように、まずパイプ材を適宜寸法
に切断して円筒状の素材管hとし(同図(a))、この素
材管hを上型と下型にそれぞれ半球状の凹部を有するプ
レス機によつて球状体iにプレス成形し(同図(b))、
最後に外周部に凹部jを打抜いて形成したもの(同図
(c))である。2. 分が多いため材料が無駄であるのみならず、加工時間が
長くかかつて高価なものとなり、省資源的にみても好ま
しくないと共に、出来上つたボールも重すぎるという難
点があつた。また、鋳造作業による場合は、ガスなどの
気泡による巣ができやすく、このような巣は機械加工を
してから発見されて不良品となるケースが多く、極めて
不経済であつた。また湯流れの関係で必要以上に肉厚と
なり、材料的にも無駄となるのみならず、重量が嵩み、
機械加工面が粗いので削り代が多く必要で、加工時間が
長くなるという欠点があつた。更に、プレス作業による
ものでは、パイプの肉厚の関係上、ステムの嵌合部とし
て使用される凹部は比較的肉薄とならざるを得ず、ステ
ム当り面積が小さくなつて、凹部のへたりが早く耐久性

右下型5,6によつて素材管1を押圧し、前述したバル
ブ軸嵌入用の凹陥部3を形成する。そして第1図(c)に
示すように、素材管1に形成した前記凹陥部3内にこの
凹陥部3の形状を維持しうるスペース部材9を挿入する
と共に、上型10と下型11のそれぞれに半球状凹部1
2,13を対峙するように形成した金型プレス14内
に、素材管1の筒軸が上下方向になるようにこの素材管
1を挿入する。次に金型プレス14の上下両型10,1
1の押圧力によつて、素材管1を球状に形成する。そし
て、最後にスペース部材9を凹陥部3から外して第1図
(e)に示す外周面に凹陥部3を有する中空ボールを形成
