Since the pressing force of the auxiliary springs (7a) and (7b) is small, the inserted plural documents (1) enter between the auxiliary springs (7a) and (7b) and the paper feed roller (3), The tip of (1) stops at the position where it hits the separating piece (4). If there is a paper feed command, the lowermost original (1a) is sent out from between the paper feed roller (3). At this time, the second and subsequent originals (1) are stopped by the frictional force with the separating piece (4), and the originals (1) are separated and fed one by one.

For this reason, the force for feeding the next document to the paper feed roller (3) becomes unbalanced and the inclination propagates, which tends to be accumulated in the subsequent document feeding. FIG. 8 is an explanatory view showing this state, in which the lowermost original (1a) is fed with inclination.
The rear end passes through the auxiliary spring (7a), but is in contact with the auxiliary spring (7b). At this time, the next original (1b) comes into contact with the paper feed roller (3) at the auxiliary spring (7a) portion, and the feeding force fa is generated, but comes in contact with the original (1a) at the auxiliary spring (7b) portion. , Feed force fb
Is occurring. Since the coefficient of friction between the original (1) and the feed roller (3) is larger than the coefficient of friction between the originals (1), the feeding force is imbalanced as fa> fb, and the next original (1b) is clocked. A moment to tilt around is generated. Therefore, there is a problem that the inclination of the original (1) propagates one after another. Also, if the second original (1b) breaks or enters the entire contact area (nip) between the paper feed roller (3) and the separation piece (4) due to electrostatic attraction, the original separation force will be lost and double feeding will occur. There was a problem that occurs.

Also, the skew can be prevented from propagating to the next original, and even if the second original enters the nip portion, by returning this original to the original table, it is possible to prevent double feeding. The purpose is to obtain an automatic paper feeder.

A separation piece that presses the paper feed roller and is movable in the paper conveyance direction. The paper can be pressed against the paper feed roller on the paper table side of the pressing portion of the separation piece, and moves in the conveyance direction with the movement of the separation piece. Equipped with an auxiliary spring and a spring that urges and supports both the separating piece and the auxiliary spring in the direction opposite to the transport direction, and when there is paper between the paper feed roller and the separating piece, the spring force of the spring and the paper feeding The auxiliary spring is configured so as not to contact the paper at the position where the frictional force in the transport direction acting on the separation piece from the roller through the paper is balanced, and there is no paper between the paper feed roller and the separation piece. In case, it acts on the separating piece from the feed roller The separating piece and the auxiliary spring move in the conveying direction by the frictional force in the conveying direction, and the auxiliary spring presses the sheet.

The frictional force that acts on the separating piece from the paper feed roller becomes the frictional force that directly acts on the separating piece from the paper feed roller when there is no document in the nip portion. As the frictional force acts on the separating piece, the frictional force becomes larger when there is no document. Since the frictional force and the spring force tend to balance each other, by using a spring having an appropriate spring force, the separating piece and the auxiliary spring move back and forth in the conveying direction depending on the presence or absence of the document in the nip portion and the number of documents. In addition, the auxiliary spring is arranged to press the standby document against the paper feed roller only when there is no document in the nip area, so even if the document at the bottom is skewed and fed, the trailing edge of the document will pass through the auxiliary spring. There is still a document in the nip. Therefore, since the auxiliary spring does not press the standby document against the sheet feeding roller, it is possible to prevent the skew feeding from propagating to the next document without the left-right unbalanced feeding force acting thereon. Further, when the standby document enters the nip portion during the feeding of the document, the frictional force acting on the separating piece from the sheet feeding roller via the document becomes smaller than the frictional force when the document is one. For this reason, the spring force becomes larger than the frictional force, and the separating piece moves rearward in the transport direction, so that the intruding original document is returned to the document table,
Double feeding can be prevented.

At this time, the frictional force f 2 received by the separating piece (4) is generally smaller than f 1 . Therefore, the separating piece (4) moves rearward in the transport direction to a position where the frictional force f 1 and the spring force of the leaf spring (10) balance each other. And the auxiliary spring (10
Since a) and (10b) are separated from the original (1) and the lowermost original (1b) is not subjected to the frictional force from the paper feed roller (3), the first original (1a) is skewed and sent. Also, when the trailing edge of the next original (1a) leaves the auxiliary springs (10a) (10b),
Left and right unbalanced feeding force does not occur, and skew does not propagate. When the first original (1a) leaves the nip portion, the state returns to the state shown in FIG. 3 and the next original (1b) is fed into the nip portion. In this way, the state of FIG. 3 and FIG.
The originals are fed separately. Next, the first original (1
The operation of returning the next original (1b) to the original table (2) when the next original (1b) has entered the nip portion while a) is being fed will be described. As shown in FIG. 5, when the next original enters the nip portion, the separating piece (4) generates a frictional force f 3 generated between the first original (1a) and the next original (1b). receive. Since f 3 is generally smaller than f 2 , the separating piece (4) is further retracted to the position where the frictional force f 3 balances with the spring force of the leaf spring (10), and the next document (1b) is separated ( 4) and is returned to the original table (2). Next manuscript (1
After b) is returned to the document table (2), the separating piece (4) is again subjected to the frictional force f 2 and moves to the position shown in FIG.
By this operation, even if the original is bent or attracted by static electricity, the next original (1b) does not enter the entire nip portion and double feeding can be prevented.

A separating piece that is movable in the conveying direction of the sheet by pressing the sheet, an auxiliary spring that can press the sheet against the sheet feeding roller on the side of the paper table with respect to the pressing portion of the separating piece, and moves in the conveying direction with the movement of the separating piece. When a paper is provided between the paper feed roller and the separating piece, the spring force of the spring and the paper from the paper feeding roller are provided. At a position where the frictional force in the transport direction acting on the separation piece through the balance is balanced, the auxiliary spring is configured not to contact the paper, and when there is no paper between the paper feed roller and the separation piece, Friction in the transport direction that acts on the separation piece from the paper feed roller Since the separating piece and the auxiliary spring move in the conveying direction by the force, and the auxiliary spring presses the paper, even if the first original is skewed and fed, the next original is skewed. There is an effect that it is possible to obtain at low cost an automatic paper feeding device that can prevent the propagation and further prevent the occurrence of double feeding due to the folding of a document, the adsorption by static electricity, and the like.
