で、始動補助用バルブ2内には所定量の水銀及び希ガス
が封入されており、前記ランプバルブ1と一体的に形成
されている。3はランプバルブ1の外周壁に沿って巻回
された励起コイルで、本実施例では4ターン巻かれてい

補助用バルブ2内にはハロゲン物質が封入されていない
ので絶縁破壊電圧が比較的低いのと、加えて励起コイル
3間に生じる線間電界の強い部分が有効に利用できる
為、まず、始動補助用バルブ2内で容易に放電が起こ
り、水銀の発光が起こる。この水銀から発せられる紫外
線がランプバルブ1内に照射され、この紫外線のエネル
ギーによってランプバルブ1内で励起、電離が起こり、

印加されるように巻回されていることを特徴とするの
で、金属ハロゲン化物が封入された無電極放電ランプで

放電ランプであって、前記励起コイルは、そのコイル間
に生じる線間電界が前記始動補助用バルブに印加される
ように巻回されていることを特徴とする無電極放電ラン
