the doctor who episode that’s both about an endless hotel that was built to house an ancient god and the way the main character’s arrogant nature harms the people around him being titled “The God Complex” is maybe the most jealous i’ve been of a title ever. i should have thought of that.

#same season has the incredibly banger sci fi titles 'the impossible astronaut' 'let's kill hitler' and 'the almost people' as well

watched classic family horror film the witches (1990) again recently and totally forgot about the rowan atkinson having an affair with his employee subplot

I think Backrooms 2026 is Dahl coded as well, just without the lore stuff at the end.

the sandwich part in obsession feels like the exact sort of horrible thing he would toss in and then casually mention in the footnotes that that it was pulled directly from a local newspaper article

#i would argue backrooms is bradbury coded. it being about a shitty therapist and her client a failed furniture store owner feels dahl though

a lot of modern horror feels extremely roald dahl coded to me for some reason

#edit: for the record i mean like. switch bitch mode roald dahl and not fantastic mr fox mode roald dahl #longlegs and sinners and a quiet place are stephen king coded but hokum and obsession and heretic are very dahl #even moreso i would say nearly every 2 sentence horror story feels like something he would write

a few people have asked me this but I don’t personally feel super comfortable selling prints/stickers/etc of those particular drawings since I sell the character designs to people

Online platforms encourage this activity, YouTube and Twitter being the biggest examples. We can see this through “drama” and “lolcow” content being promoted and spread across many feeds.
