Hey I’m Shelby!

I’m a professional storyboard artist who’s been affected by the recent job drought in the LA film industry, so I’ve been getting back into drawing for fun! I like to draw really dumb things, as well as stuff about haunted places.

I’m working on a graphic novel called “The Devil in the Woods”. In between script rewrites and crying over the page count exploding, I’ve been dabbling in autobio comics, as well as fan art of whatever I’m obsessed with at the moment.

I’m still Big Mad from the animation industry AI news, and I had some thoughts I needed to get out. There are lots of more important reasons why artists shouldn’t use AI, but here is my philosophical take on it.

I wrote about ten different versions of this comic. Sorry if it’s a bit disjointed. I just want to reiterate how disappointing this news is. I thought we were fighting against this during the TAG contract negotiations. I guess everyone has a price.

EDIT: Jorge Gutiérrez has dropped out of the GenAI creator’s fund and will not be making his show through it. I still don’t understand why he signed on initially, especially when he was so critical of AI’s impact on the industry in the past, but this is a good step forward.

I still think his sex comment is weird.

My point still stands on the other shows.
