So this is a wee song I wrote for my husband for our anniversary that tell a little bit of our story in a very light hearted bit of craic way, using our silly nicknames. It will never be released to the public (although he is trying to talk me into it but I just don't see the point as it isn’t going to speak to anyone else) but I would like it to be heard by someone other than in this house lol and hopefully have a wee chuckle also.
Anyway please be kind like I said wasn't taking myself too seriously in it. Thanks for listening 😊
PS the Splinters had nothing to do with actual wood or DIY lol

Sparky & Splinters
We met in basic training back in ’99,
Two kids pretending we were tougher,
trying hard to toe the line.
We laughed it off as fate just tripping on its face,
But I swear even then,
Something shifted in that place.
We had feelings we buried,
Timing wasn’t our friend,
So we stayed in the lines,
Called it “just friends” back then.
--------
Sparky and Splinters —
Who’d ever believe
Two almost‑lovers in uniform would grow roots this deep.
We drifted apart,
Eight years gone without a sound,
But love has a funny way of circling back around.
No lightning, no grand design —
Just Sparky and Splinters,
Your hand still holding mine.
--------
Then one day you found me — or maybe I found you,
Two older, wiser idiots with nothing left to prove.
You were still the steady one, sarcastic as ever,
And I was still Splinters — indecisive, but clever enough to say “never say never.”
And even now on the sofa, no reason, no cue,
Your hand finds mine like it was always meant to.
---------
Sparky and Splinters — who’d ever believe
Two almost‑lovers in uniform would grow roots this deep.
We drifted apart, eight years gone without a sound,
But love has a funny way of circling back around.
No lightning, no grand design —
Just Sparky and Splinters, your hand still holding mine.

Maybe love isn’t timing, Maybe it’s the pull,
Maybe it’s the way unfinished stories never stay dull.
Maybe fate got impatient waiting for us to see,
That we were always meant to come back —
You to me, me to you, Naturally.
------‐‐--
Sparky and Splinters —
Still side by side,
Still laughing, still teasing, still choosing this life.
We came back together when the stars aligned,
And now your hand’s in my hand---
Always.
