Caring for Your Cafuné

Leather Care Guide

Why Care?

Much like a skincare routine, leather goods benefit from regular, thoughtful care to stay in their best condition over time. With the right attention, your Cafuné bag can accompany you through the years, ageing beautifully while retaining its character.
We recommend beginning care early, rather than waiting until signs of wear appear. Preventive care helps protect the leather, maintain its structure and extend the life of your bag.

How to care?

To make caring simple and intuitive, we created the Cafuné x Act of Caring Leather Care Kit — a mindful collaboration designed to help you preserve the natural character of your bag with ease.

This kit contains gentle, eco-conscious formulas and tools, carefully chosen to clean, condition, and protect your leather goods without compromising their integrity. Regular care is a ritual - a way to honour the craftsmanship of your bag and extend its story.

Below, you’ll find simple steps on how to use your Cafuné x Act of Caring kit to keep your bag at its best.
Step 1 – Cleansing
Just as you begin a skincare routine by cleansing your skin, start your leather care ritual with the Restoring Leather Cleanser.

Lightly dampen the sponge and add 4–5 pumps of the cleanser, squeezing to create a soft foam. Using gentle, light motions, work across the leather surface to lift away dirt and impurities. Rinse the sponge in water, squeeze it and use the damp sponge to wipe the bag clean from soap residues and allow the leather to dry naturally.

Formulated with organic coconut-based soap and free from harsh chemicals, this Cleanser purifies while respecting the natural character of the leather.
Step 2 – Protect & Polish
Nourish and protect your bag with the Protecting Leather Balm. With a soft cotton cloth, apply a small amount of balm in circular movements. Immediately polish with the cloth to remove any excess, ensuring no residue settles on seams or stitching. For a final touch, buff briskly with the clean side of the cloth — this restores softness and brings out a subtle, revived shine.

Note: Always test the cleanser and balm on a discreet area before full application. As leather is a natural material, care should be minimal and intentional — use the balm only when the leather feels dry and in need of moisture. On light coloured leather, the balm may darken the leather temporarily, but it will revert to its original colour after a few days.
Step 3 – Finishing Touches: Scent & Shine
Complete the ritual by caring for the interior and hardware details of your bag.

Interior: Treat the Fabric Refresher as a finishing fragrance for your bag. Mist 1–2 sprays inside from approximately 20cm away, then leave the bag open until fully dry, allowing the natural notes to gently infuse. Formulated with natural zinc salts, it neutralises odours while leaving a clean, airy freshness.

Hardware: Like blotting paper for your bag, use the Hardware Cloth to polish all metal parts. For tougher tarnish, lightly dampen one corner of the cloth to clean, then finish by buffing with the dry section to restore shine. The cloth is infused with a mild soap and can be reused until fully worn (do not wash).
Tips
Allow at least 20 minutes to complete this ritual of care. Frequent care helps to maintain the longevity of your Cafuné. Go through the care ritual every season, or whenever you feel needed, depending on how frequent the bag is being used.

Please note: the cleanser and balm are not suitable for nubuck or suede.
Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Tips

General Leather Care

To ensure the longevity of your leather goods, we recommend you to:

  • Avoid over exposure to direct lighting
  • Avoid excess contact with water, oils, perfumes or cosmetics
  • Some leathers may be sensitive to colour transfer, especially in humid conditions. Please take care when wearing a dark-coloured bag together with light-coloured fabric and vice versa
  • Avoid overfilling your bag to maintain its overall appearance and life
  • When not in use, store your bag or wallets in its original dust bag in a dry cool place, and keep the bag's stuffing inside to hold the shape
  • Avoid storing in high temperature, humid or unventilated areas; avoid hanging bags up as this can stretch the strap or handles
