Teaching

This academic year I am teaching CSE502 Functional Programming in Fall 2001.

Research and Papers

A lot of my work is in the context of the functional language Haskell (read this poem for a light-hearted view of the language). I am a member of the Pacific Software Research Center at OGI.

Descriptions of my research and my papers are organized in four main areas of interest:

This area is perpetually under development. If one of my papers is not here then email me and I will make sure I put it on.

Business

Functional programming techniques are incredibly powerful, yet industry is slow to adopt them because of many superficial barriers. I spend some of my time working at Galois Connections Inc, a company dedicated to promoting and exploiting functional programming in industrial contexts.

Interests

They say you can tell a lot about a person from the jokes they enjoy. I don't believe it, but try my favourites anyway. Try my personal view on which vs that. Here is an interesting approach to the problems of internet privacy. Also here are a couple of pictures. I plan to add more.

More seriously, I am a committed follower of Jesus Christ. I am a member of the Christadelphian fellowship, and we meet in Sherwood, just south of Portland. I have a deep love for Bible study and will from time to time place some notes on this page. Currently I have a summary of the book of Job available, a detailed examination of Rahab, Leviathan and Behemoth, and an analysis of the role of Elihu.
