I'm not sure if you talk about it a lot, but do you have any general advice on starting game dev? I really enjoyed the style of everyday devil (its combination of visual novel, RPG, and 3d elements is really really cool) and it's inspired me a lot in wanting to make a game of my own, but I'm not sure where to begin at all
Thank you for playing Every Devil !!
Happy you enjoyed <3
I’m not really good at game dev at all, I just kinda brute forced it and as such do not have the best practices!
I’d say first off is thinking about what the game might look like overall, perhaps even starting a design document where you go over stuff you want to include. Make a basic outline.
Then you will likely want to pick a game engine!
There’s a lot out there - Unity, Unreal Engine, Godot, GameMaker, RPGMaker, Renpy
Some better fit certain genres over others and have various pros and cons
I picked Unreal Engine on a whim and stuck with it out of stubbornness personally, but be sure to research and try things out!
