Codebay helps us develop and design new features for our web platform and mobile app, as well as maintain both of them, while helping with debugging, testing and quality of life improvements. We work using "sprints" where activities are outlined every two weeks and results are presented at the end of every sprint. Changes to the mobile app and platform are usually made as soon as they have been tested.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We have biweekly meetings called "demos" where the Codebay team presents the progress made during the two week "sprint". The amount of "story points" or tasks worked on in a given sprint are presented and marked as complete after they are shown to be functional. Additionally, the Codebay team has shared a workspace on the Azure platform so that we can track task progress in real time.

Codebay delivers items on time, and responds to our needs by molding their work times to fit ours and making sure to maintain constant contact with us to keep us updated on their progress, both through Azure and daily video meetings, as well as messaging when necessary to ensure progress is kept on track.

Their ability to fill in our team needs and app requirements. They go above and beyond to help our app and platform be as functional and smooth as possible. The SSO solution that Codebay has provided is unique and great because it has enabled us to integrate it with different platforms and technologies. In addition, their UI/UX design is nice. Codebay has been awesome in providing resources to address everything we need in our other areas.

Moreover, the team has successfully handled all the bugs that have arisen in every sprint.

How did Codebay perform from a project management standpoint?

Codebay regularly meets deadlines; if not, they communicate about it. Regarding communication and project management, they've used Jira and Slack, implemented Agile Scrum methodology, and arranged weekly phone calls and meetings to explain the project's progress and show me a demo of the tools they're developing.

Alberto and Erick are awesome; they meet with me and ask about the ongoing quality of their work.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Codebay's work and feedback quality are impressive. In addition, Codebay's communicative approach is great because they're able to listen to any situation, provide excellent attention, and be diligent with what we want.

I don't think they can improve anything because we can talk to them if we have an issue, and they'll find a way to solve it.

Codebay provided a full stack developer who helped develop the backend and date pipeline. They also supported low code and tool based front end development and later, after beta testing, full front-end development. We were a company in early stages, so we worked with more junior members of the Codebay team. All of them were talented and ambicious for this stage of their career and delivered excellent results.

The full stack developer was a critical member of our team and worked well with contractors from other organizations to integrate their work with our overall objectives. Everyone showed a strong work ethic and understanding of our business context and needs.

Codebay showed a commitment to their employees and they created a real team culture despite the pressures of remote work. They fit a nice niche between low end freelance marketplaces and high end outsourcing services that charge premium rates with high overhead for sales, marketing, and project management.

They have a strong team culture and do not act like a bunch of mercenaries going from one project to the next. In these days of remote work, it's nice to be able to bring on a group of people that bring commitment and a team spirit to their work.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Codebay could have done differently?

Nothing for me. We lost a team member right at the end of a major project, but this happens with talented people, and the job offer they received speaks to the calibre of people at Codebay. Like every service firm, they have to balance advancing their people's talents with retaining them at competitive salaries and billing rates.

Each location independently managed their sales and at the end of the day they were register in the system, which was often not accurate. So we had a very high need to change our system for one that had our own processes and we could see the sales of each location in real time.

I had already worked with them on a previous project, so I consulted them and the solution they presented to me was very promising.

They developed a system which integrates the cash register of each location, as well as a website where I can see the status, sales and reports of the entire company or any of the locations. We contracted Amazon for the server service so that the system was visible at all times and to generate recurring backups (this is automatic).

I'm not sure, first we had a person who evaluated the processes and made a proposal, then someone from graphic design came in, and in the end two programmers were doing practically all the development. There is a part-time person who helps coordinate everything.

Today I can see in real time what happens in each location of the company. There was success with the main objective! Of course the project did not end there, we have gradually added other modules, and a new website is even being developed so that clients can order and reserve online.

For what projects/services did your company hire Codebay, and what were your goals?

The first project for which Codebay was hired was for the development of an application which was created to print on cards and on different types of products. The second project, which we are currently working on, is the creation of an ecommerce, we hope to increase our reach and improve our sales significantly.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

They were a recommendation from the Guadalajara Chamber of Commerce, we were evaluating three other companies, but in the end we went with them.

The first project was simple, it did not require much effort, the system was made with C#. For the ecommerce a different methodology was implemented due to the size of the project: scrum, where we meet several times a week, and where results are shown twice a month. We start with planning and designing some parts, we are currently defining the best way to manage shipments and payments.

The programming went smoothly and we did not have many comments, what really represented an additional work was the maintenance and support, since it was necessary to have several trainings for the people involved.
