We wanted to make releases faster, so we had to automate big scope of tests. Also, we wanted to improve the QA process in product development. We were looking for a Software Testing company with QA automation experience who could connect to our team and start working on the Automation framework, writing tests using Python, and could analyze all test results. Our QA Lead managed communication and all work with them.

Our CEO Maksym knows Sergey, the CEO of UTOR. QA Automation engineers were selected after they passed technical tasks that was done in three days.

The project is related to the automotive industry; It is a big complex web/mobile project. QA automation engineers used Pytest/unit test, Grafana, Jenkins, AWS and a lot of custom and self-written libs. Almost everything is self-written there.

A huge database of tests and analytical data was accumulated, which were used in forecasting and quality reports. The framework was migrated from Python 2 to Python 3. Tools for quality reports were built and integrated, which exchanged data between CI and Grafana. We are still working together.

Effective and smooth.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

If you want to improve the QA process and have your own QA strategy UTOR is a good company to work with. Also, they handle issues in a professional way.

We worked with 2 full-time manual QAs, 1 part time manual QA. All engineers on the project had a Middle/Senior level of skills and experience.

We managed to release numerous features and patches thanks to quality testing the outstaffed team provided. Most of the processes we've built with UTOR are still used to this date.

The outstaffed team was a part of the entire development team, as if our own employees. There were no issues with communication at all.

Flexibility responsiveness from the UTOR management -- it was super easy for them to understand and resolve any request we had. We were never in the dark about anything, very clear and direct communication.

We needed additional help in testing our platform from both a manual and automated perceptive. Utor provided critical functionality testing, created and improved test documentation, created checklists and tests cases for new features, and provided sanity/regression cycles.

All created documentation they transferred to us and stored in Confluence. Also, utor created and improved Automated test cases, Refactored and optimized the framework, and optimized existing test cases (QASE workspace).

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We did an extensive search and when I met with the UTOR leadership team, I knew we had found the right partner for us. They had the knowledge and experience we needed to improve our QA processes. We were impressed with both the leadership team and the resources that they allocated to this project. And, they are just people.

The SmartSuite platform brings together all the essential elements that teams need to manage any workflow or project in their business. We had spend over $12,000,000 and and almost three years on the development of the platform.

As we werre ending the development 3 year development cycle we needed addtional resources that could help us ensure that platform was error free and ready to take to market.

They help us created and test over 4,000 test cases, that each contained multiple test steps. UTOR provided us with both manual and automated testing experts that were absorbed into our exiting QA team. They worked side by side with our team and attended all daily and weekly calls.

We worked with full-time Automation QAs, 3 full-time manual QAs, 3 part-time manual QAs, and 1 PM. For automation testing, the UTOR team implemented technologies such as Typescript + Cypress with BDD approach. For BDD, the team implemented Cucumber framework. All engineers on the project had Senior level skills and experience.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

To sum up, UTOR tested about 100 users' stories and tasks, as a result, a number of bugs with priority Blocker and Critical reduced, and decreased users' complaints. The team did their best to meet quality specifications for successful product promotion.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We were on a strict schedule and demanded a lot from the UTOR. We managed the work they did our own product the work (stories) were were organized by Sprint and linked to Features. Each member had a daily list of tasks to compete. In addition to the daily stand ups, we used Slack for communications.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

UTOR provided us with high-level QA testing services at an affordable price point. They were eager to make our product better by using their to verify test steps and report bugs as needed. But, what we enjoyed most was the people they provide. Just great people to work with - that care about doing a good job. I highly recommend them.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I don't have any comments on what they could improve as they provided exactly what we needed and did it at an reasonable price.

Most of our communication goes through project manager Alex. He is an incredibly smart, connected, and action-oriented projected manager. He is always on top of things. We have weekly calls to discuss the progress and news tasks.

While I cannot reveal specific statistics, we consider the project to be a success for several reasons: our QA process has become far more robust, we are shipping code that is more stable with far fewer bugs. Subsequently, for changes, the releases have been smooth with minimal post-testing errors.

We have Zoom calls just to touch base or share our requirements and new features. Sometimes, they turn into full-blown meetings where we are networking to discuss roadblocks and workflows in Asana project management. They are a pleasure to work with.

The project launched successfully in February 2021 with few regressions or blockers. Cross device compatibility has been achieved. Page views and revenues keep rising.

The workflow has been very effective, they've been proactive and they provided a Project Manager who was always on pulse, took feedback, made retrospective to raise the quality of our cooperation.

The projects, where UTOR helped us with testing, became 99% stable (previously was 70-80%) and our QA tester learned how to do auto testing and improved his knowledge pretty well.

Super-effective. In projects, they did all the work straightforward and provided clear documentation. In the mentoring of our QA tester, there established an efficient communication, that saved me a lot of time.
