Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the managing partner at a digital advertising agency.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Share IT?

We are focused on the creative and strategic side of marketing, and we don’t have a strong in-house tech team. We needed help in the technical aspects of digital marketing, mainly web development and ERP and CRM integration.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Share IT helps us develop WordPress websites. PHP, .NET, and Umbraco are some of the technologies that they frequently use. We work with Share IT in creating wireframes and prototypes. We share tasks between our teams, and once we get the client’s approval, they move on to development.

In addition, Share IT implements e-commerce solutions on WooCommerce and Vendr. They create functionalities such as product stock management and transaction schedules. They’ve also integrated e-commerce solutions to our clients’ pre-existing ERP and CRM.

Share IT has become our exclusive technology partner. Whenever we have projects, we no longer work with other agencies.

What is the team composition?

We work directly with four project managers.

How did you come to work with Share IT?

They were recommended by a friend who had worked with them before. We started with one project as a test, and I was happy with the outcome and the interaction between our teams. We worked together more frequently after that.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent around €600,000 (approximately $694,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in March 2019, and it’s ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Share IT has allowed us to expand our range of services. It’s difficult to be a creative agency nowadays without having strong technological support since everything is digital. They’ve helped us overcome our lack of in-house resources. We’re getting more clients now because we’ve increased our offerings.

Share IT’s work is technologically-based, and what we aim for is functionality and reliability as well as adherence to budget and timelines. We’ve never experienced any issues with Share IT — in fact, they’ve set our standards moving forward.

How did Share IT perform from a project management standpoint?

I’m very happy about Share IT’s project management. They are efficient while remaining to be flexible. Every project has its own set of issues, but Share IT is good at dealing with prolems in a timely and effective manner.

Our partnership is remote, and we use Microsoft Teams to communicate. We use Figma to share files and layouts. They are flexible whenever our clients request for a change in scope and specification.

What did you find most impressive about them?

My main difficulty with other developers is their project management, time management, and communications. We’ve never experienced any of those problems with Share IT.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They can improve the availability of their resources so we can have teammates working with us straight away. That said, I know they’re growing and hiring more people, so I expect that to be less of an issue in the near future.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Specify the project properly right from the start. If you know what you want and are clear in communicating your expectations, things will work out fine. Share IT is flexible on scope changes, but it’s better to have a well-defined scope.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Share IT has been providing us with full-time staff augmentation for development resources and others that come and go depending on our current needs. For every recruitment sprint, we provide them with project descriptions, the position we’re looking for, and the time and tech stack experience requirements for the task.

What was the team composition?

We’ve worked with 2–3 members of Share IT’s team, including Nuno (Developer) and Ricardo (Founder).

How did you come to work with Share IT?

They reached out to me via cold email, which is how I got in contact with Ricardo.

How much have you invested with them?

We invest $100,000–$150,000 with them every year.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in January 2020, and the engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Share IT’s developers have helped us deliver on our promises to our customers by adding talented staff to our team. Overall, they’ve met our expectations.

How did Share IT perform from a project management standpoint?

For the most part, we manage the project internally, but their organization for their resources, like HR tasks, has been good.

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

Nuno is a diligent and detail-oriented developer with whom we’ve had a lot of success. In addition, he’s grown a lot with our company in terms of skill set and broad capabilities.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Share IT’s communication has been great. We have the ability to reach out to the developers individually and to their management staff. The team has been very responsive and overall good to work with.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Apart from the fact that their costs have been obviously going up over the years, I don’t think there’s anything they can improve on. There are many benefits to paying a little more, like getting a good vetting process for the resources, avoiding having bad experiences, or even having to go directly to find developers ourselves.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be detailed with the initial interview for each developer you want to add to your team, and ensure that every requirement is well set to avoid hiring someone who isn’t suited for the position you’re looking for.
