I’m the VP of engineering at Ironsource, an advertising network for mobile apps.

What challenge were you trying to address with Yugen.ai?

We needed data engineering and data science support.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We started the engagement with a discovery phase, wherein we discussed how Yugen.ai could leverage their skill sets to help us out. We didn’t provide them with a complete brief, but Yugen.ai has been able to innovate and deliver concrete solutions. They’ve also provided reporting services and built reporting dashboards for us.

For the data engineering work, they’ve used Kafka, Python, Amazon Spot Instances, and AWS Lambda. For the data science work, they’ve built out a lot of the data models using SageMaker and an algorithm called random forest.

How did you come to work with Yugen.ai?

We found Yugen.ai through a referral.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent around  $200,000–$1,000,000 USD so far. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in February 2020, and the engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We liked Yugen.ai’s work, so we’ve decided to expand our engagement. We appreciate how even their founders are very engaged with their day-to-day workflow and the quality of their delivery. Overall, it’s been a positive experience working with them.

How did Yugen.ai perform from a project management standpoint?

Yugen.ai has performed well in terms of project management. They work in our timezone despite being in India. We defined our goals clearly, all of which they’ve been able to execute. They’re also incredibly approachable, flexible, and professional. 

We use Jira for project management and Slack and Zoom for communication.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We’re most impressed with Yugen.ai’s approachability and innovative skills. They also work within our parameters and according to our instructions, which we appreciate.

Are there any areas they could improve?

From a day-to-day reporting point of view, setting up progress reports would be great. They could also improve their communication.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Make sure to provide them with clear requirements. They have a good startup model, which involves a trial period for a couple of weeks so you can evaluate how they work and figure out if you’re a match.
