The West Midland forms twenteuþe, twentuðe likely reflect late 古期英語 *twēntēoþa, an alteration of twēntigoþa influenced by the ordinals for 11-19 in -tēoþa such as fīftēoþa (“fifteenth”); compare the reverse analogy in tithe, though Logan instead derives twentuðe from 古期英語 *twēntugoþa, a vowel-reduced form of 古期英語 *twēnteogoþa, either reflecting back umlaut of twēntigoþa or analogy to teogoþa, alternative form of tēoþa (“tenth”).
