The oblast again is divided into uyzeds, each of which has its principal town, over which presides an Ispravnick; the uyzeds are divided into vollosts; and vollosts into villages with a church (sello), or hamlets (derevnia), if there be none. The chief man of a vollost is a Zasidatil; the chief man of a village is a Starosta, or alderman.
