Do shards currently have any kind of effect?
Not yet — in the current version shards don’t apply any gameplay effects.
They’re implemented as a prestige currency first, and their bonuses are coming in the next update (v1.2).
Planned shard effects include:
• Permanent cost reductions for helpers
• Small click power boost per shard
• CPS multiplier once you collect enough
