Abstract

214,701. Dessau, M. M. Jan. 19, 1923. Carpets, mats, &c. are composed of a plurality of strips of material placed side by side with the edges of alternate strips or groups of strips projecting beyond the intermediate strips, the projecting strips being formed of rubber crÛpe or sheet and having serrated edges. The intermediate strips may also be of rubber and the whole may be secured together with rubber latex, and vulcanized by the Peachey or other cold process. Fabrics &c. may be incorporated between adjacent strips. The material may be mounted upon a backing layer, or both surfaces may have projecting edges similarly or differently arranged. The projecting edges may be double, as shown in Fig. 3.
