Abstract

257,571. Metals Production Corporation, (Assignees of Humphries, C. H.). Aug. 31, 1925, [Convention date]. Fluxes.-In the welding of iron or sheet articles the surface of the article is treated, before welding, with a solution of chromic acid. The solution is applied by dipping or with a brush or a sprayer and the surfaces are allowed to dry before welding. In an example the solution comprises 64 parts by weight of commercial chromic acid, 1 part of sulphuric acid and 267 parts of water.
