446,151. Latches. ASH, J., ROGERS, A., and ROGERS, A. L., Ashtree Works, Pargeter Street, Walsall. Nov. 9, 1934, No. 26189 /35. Divided out of 446,110. [Class 44] A latch or lock actuated by a push button or plunger and a pivoted lever has intermediate mechanism between the push button or plunger and the lever. A lever 6 pivoted at 7 has one arm 6<a> engaging a projection 8 on a sliding latch plate, its other arm 6b which is shorter than the arm 6<a> having a bent up lug 9 adapted to be engaged by the intermediate mechanism which is arranged to one side of the bolt. The intermediate mechanism shown in Fig. 1 is the same as that described in Specification 446,110, but the following forms of mechanism may be used. As shown in Fig. 4, the plunger engages a bent metal strip 15 anchored at one end to the lock casing and slotted at its other end to engage the lug 9. This strip may be replaced by a pair of toggle levers acted upon by the plunger at their junction. Fig. 6 shows a modification in which an inclined edge of the lug on the lever is engaged by the end of a plate 18 guided by two pins 20 engaging slots or notches cut in opposite ends of the plate.
