本発明は製本用背部材に係り、更に詳しくは、破れ難い耐久性を備えた製本用背部材に関する。

【従来の技術】
従来より、ノート等を製本する場合には、表裏一対の表紙間に多数枚の紙を挟み込み、これらの背部領域に背部材を貼り付けて表紙及び中間の紙を一体化させる構成が採用されている。この背部材としては、図4に示されるように、前記背部領域に接着される基材紙40の外面側にカレンダートッピングにより形成された塩化ビニル樹脂層41を設け、その後に、塩化ビニル樹脂層41の表面をエンボス加工したタイプのものが知られている。また、その他の構成としては、基材紙40にアクリル樹脂を含浸させ、上面にアクリル系樹脂塗料をコーティングさせたタイプの背部材も存在する。

【発明の目的】
本発明は、このような不都合に着目して案出されたものであり、その目的は、背部材の強度を高めることによって摩耗等が生じ難い耐久性を備え、且つ、可塑剤の移行をなくして印刷物を汚損することのない製本用背部材を提供することにある。

【課題を解決するための手段】
前記目的を達成するため、本発明は、表表紙と裏表紙との間に多数枚の紙を挟み込んでなるノート本体の背部側領域に貼り付けられる製本用背部材において、
前記ノート本体側に接着される基材紙と、この基材紙の外面側に設けられるとともにコロナ放電による表面処理が施された透明な樹脂シートとを含み、当該樹脂シートは内面側に設けられた印刷層を備えているとともに、前記基材紙に接着剤層を介して接着される、という構成を採っている。このような構成を採用することにより、従来のコーティングに比べて、樹脂シート自体が摩耗や破損に強い特性を発揮するようになり、基材紙を強度的にバックアップして背部材全体の強度を高めることができる。また、印刷層を汚損から保護することができ、種々の印刷を施すことで多様の背部材を構成することが可能となる。

また、前記樹脂シートは、例えば、ポリプロピレン、ポリエチレン等のポリオレフィン系樹脂により構成するとよい。これにより、背部材の耐久性を一定に維持できるとともに、焼却処分する際の有害ガスの発生を回避することができる。

更に、本発明におけるシートは、非延伸ポリプロピレンにより構成することが好ましい。非延伸フィルムは、その性状として、延伸されていない分だけねばり、すなわち延び代を保有することができ、従って、頻繁な開閉を伴うノートの背部材に適用したときに、その開閉に十分な追従性を発揮して十分な強度を維持することが可能となる。

背部材14は、前記背部側領域を表裏に亘って跨ぐ幅を備えた帯状をなし、当該背部材14は、図3にも示されるように、基材紙20と、この基材紙20の外面側に接着剤層21を介して設けられた印刷層23及び樹脂シート24とを備えて構成されている。印刷層23は、樹脂シート24の内面側にグラビア印刷を施すことによって設けられ、樹脂シート24を透明な非延伸の、すなわち延伸されていないポリプロピレンシートによって構成することで、当該樹脂シート24を通じて印刷層23が表出するようになっている。本実施例におけるシート材料として用いられるポリプロピレンは、ホモポリマータイプのものが採用されている。また、樹脂シート24は、表面がコロナ放電処理されたものが用いられて印刷層23の印刷精度が高められているとともに、外面すなわち表面にはエンボス加工が施されて表面への傷付き易さを低減され、印刷層23と相俟って一定の化粧効果が得られるようになっている。なお、特に限定されるものではないが、本実施例における樹脂シート24の厚みは約50μmとされている。

以上説明したように、本発明によれば、ノート本体の背部側領域に貼り付けられる製本用背部材が、基材紙と、これの外面側に積層された透明な樹脂シートと、当該樹脂シートの内面側に設けられた印刷層とにより構成され、接着剤層を介して樹脂シートと基材紙とを接着する構成としたから、樹脂シート自体が破れに強い特性を発揮して基材紙を強度的にバックアップするようになり、従って、基材紙を破れ難くして長期使用が可能な耐久性を備えた製本用背部材を提供することが可能となる。また、印刷層を汚損から保護すると同時に当該印刷層の色あせも防止することができ、長期に亘って装飾的効果を維持することができる他、種々の印刷を施すことで多種多様な製本用背部材を提供することが可能となる。
