本発明は、液状の塗料を塗装ガンに加圧下で供給して被塗物に吐出させるための塗料供給装置に関するものである。

塗料を電圧印加されたベル式或はエアスプレ式の塗装ガンに供給する場合、図3Aに示すように、エア加圧により塗料圧送タンク1から塗料供給路2を通して塗料を圧送して塗装ガン3から吐出させるタンク加圧方式、或は同図Bに示すように、塗料タンク5にエアポンプ6及びアキュムレータ7が組込まれた塗料循環路4を接続し、この塗料循環路から塗装ガン3を分岐させた塗料循環方式が周知となっている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
前者の場合、塗料供給をスムーズに行うことが容易であるが、塗装停止時に供給経路に塗料が沈殿し、特に中断を伴う少量の塗装作業の場合に塗装品質を低下させる問題がある。後者の場合、エアポンプによる塗料の循環によりこの欠点は解消されるが、その往復ストロークの動作により塗料の脈動が生じるために、アキュムレータを後続させて平滑作用を与える必要がある。また、塗料を循環させつつ塗装ガンからも吐出させるために塗料の仕掛かり量が多くなり、相応に管径を大きく、ポンプ圧を高くする必要がある。さらに、光揮材を含む塗料等に対して塗料の循環自体に伴う品質低下の問題もある。

本発明は、このような点に鑑みて、塗料供給の中断に伴う塗料の劣化を抑制してタンク加圧方式により塗料を塗装ガンに供給し得る塗料供給装置を提供することを目的とする。

【課題を解決するための手段】
本発明は、この目的を達成するために、請求項1により、塗装時にエア加圧により塗料を圧送する塗料圧送タンクの塗料吐出口及びの塗料戻り口間に、塗装停止時に作動するエアポンプが組込まれた塗料循環路を接続し、エアポンプに、塗装時にエアポンプをバイパスするように開放する弁を介してバイパス路を接続し、その下流側の塗料循環路に塗装ガンを接続し、そのさらに下流側の塗料循環路に塗装停止時に塗料循環路を開放する弁を設けたことを特徴とする。

【発明の実施の形態】
図1及び図2を基に本発明の実施の形態の一例による塗料供給装置を説明する。10はエア加圧により塗料吐出口10aから液状の塗料を圧送する塗料圧送タンクであり、その塗料吐出口10a及び塗料戻り口10b間には塗料循環路11が接続されている。この塗料循環路にはエアポンプ13が直列に組込まれ、塗料圧送タンク10とに三方向弁15により共通のエア圧源から圧縮エアが選択的に供給される。

エアポンプ13の前後には三方向弁16、16aが組込まれて、エアポンプ13をバイパスするバイパス路14が並列回路として接続されている。三方向弁16aの下流側の塗料循環路11に塗装ガン3が分岐回路として接続され、そのさらに下流側の塗料循環路11に二方向弁18が組込まれている。塗装ガン3から下流側の塗料循環路11は塗料の循環専用であり、管径をその上流側より小さく設定されている。対応して、エアポンプ13の塗料の送出量が少なくなり、ポンプ圧は本来の塗料循環方式よりも低くなっている。

このように構成された塗料供給装置の動作は次の通りである。塗装時には、図1に示すように(各弁の閉鎖位置を黒色で示す)、三方向弁15が圧縮エアを塗料圧送タンク10に供給し、三方向弁16、16aがバイアス路14を開放する側へ切換わり、二方向弁18が閉鎖する。これにより、塗料吐出口10aから圧送された塗料がバイパス路14を通して付属弁が開放した塗装ガン3へ供給される。したがって、塗料はタンク加圧方式により脈動を伴うことなくスムーズに供給され、被塗物に対して高品質の塗装が行われる。

以上、本発明によれば、塗料循環方式及びタンク加圧方式の利点を生かした塗料供給装置により、塗料供給の脈動が回避されて吐出量が安定化し、停止中の塗料沈殿を回避する目的のみの塗料循環により循環ポンプの小型化及び循環配管径のサイズダウンが可能となり、設備費用が低減される。したがって、特に塗料を貯えたまま停止時間が入る少量の塗装を行う塗料供給装置として極めて有効となる。
