酸化チタン等の光触媒が強く働く環境として屋外光に含まれる400nm以下の波長による光照射が望まれます。元来体毛系動物には太陽光を好む習性があります。酸化チタン等の光触媒をシャンプーやリンスなどの体毛の洗浄や調整手段又は、直接希釈液を噴霧、又はコートする手段等により動物の体毛に付着又は、コーティングせしめることで、光照射時に光触媒作用が働き、動物の体毛を衛生化することができます。この事は飼主にとっても衛生管理の手間が省け絶えず太陽を好むという動物の生活習性と光触媒作用の相乗によって非常に有効な自己衛生再生機能を期待できるものであります。

【従来の問題点】
従来はペットの体毛殺菌手段として、たとえばダニ取り用の毒性のある薬品はありました。もちろん人間にもペットにも安全とはいえませんでした。ペットはあらゆる生活空間にあって自由に行動し、不衛生な場所やネズミなどとの接触、体毛に付着したウイルスや細菌、自らも排出するアンモニアや汚物の付着など、ペットの行動には厳重な注意が必要であり、衛生面で効果的な方法はありませんでした。
