Description
高分子マトリックスとしての低密度ポリエチレン(融点122℃、密度0.92g/cm3、)100体積部に、フィラメント状Ni粒子(平均粒径6.7μm)35体積部を加え、150℃に加熱しながらラボプラストミル中で30分間混練した。これにより、第1金属フィラーとしてのフィラメント状Ni粒子(平均粒径6.7μm)と、当該第1金属フィラーが凝集した第2金属フィラー(粒径約20〜70μm)とが高分子マトリックス中に分散した混練物を得た。得られた混練物に、低分子有機化合物としてのエチレンホモポリマーを10体積部加え、150℃に加熱しながらラボプラストミル中で10分間混練することで、高分子マトリックス及び低分子有機化合物中に第1金属フィラー及び第2金属フィラーが分散したPTCサーミスタ組成物を得た。得られたPTCサーミスタ組成物を150℃の熱プレスによって厚さ0.8mmのシート状に成形し、3×4mmのサイズに切り出してサーミスタ素体を得た。
高分子マトリックスとしての低密度ポリエチレン(融点122℃、密度0.92g/cm3、)100体積部に、低分子有機化合物としてのエチレンホモポリマー10体積部と、フィラメント状Ni粒子(平均粒径6.7μm)35体積部とを加え、150℃に加熱しながらラボプラストミル中で30分間混練した。これにより、高分子マトリックス及び低分子有機化合物中に上記のフィラメント状Ni粒子が分散したPTCサーミスタ組成物を得た。このPTCサーミスタ組成物を用いたこと以外は実施例1と同様にして、PTC素子を作製した。得られたPTC素子の断面写真を図4及び5に示す。これらの断面写真は、Nikon社製工業用顕微鏡エクリプスL150により撮影したものであり、図4は倍率100倍で、図5は倍率500倍で撮影したものである。図4,5に示したように、比較例1のPTC素子では、サーミスタ素体中で第1金属フィラーが分散しており、第2金属フィラーが含まれていないことが確認できた。
作製したPTC素子について、2℃/分の昇温速度で昇温した後冷却したときの抵抗値の変化を4端子法で測定して温度−抵抗曲線を得、この曲線から室温(25℃)抵抗値、及び、抵抗変化率を求めた。その結果を表1に示す。
作製したPTC素子について、JIS C 0025規定に基づく熱衝撃試験を行い、試験後の抵抗値を測定した。より詳しくは、各PTC素子に対して、(i)PTC素子を、これに搭載されているサーミスタ素体の温度が−40℃となる温度条件のもとで30分保持する工程、(ii)上記保持時間の10%の時間(3分)以内にサーミスタ素体の温度を85℃まで昇温する工程、(iii)サーミスタ素体の温度が85℃となる温度条件のもとで30分保持する工程、(iv)上記保持時間の10%の時間(3分)以内にサーミスタ素体の温度を−40℃まで降温する工程、からなる1つの熱処理サイクルを200回繰り返した後、室温(25℃)抵抗値を測定した。その結果を表1に示す。なお、熱衝撃試験を行うための装置として、エスペック社製の商品名「TSE−11−A」及び商品名「TSA−71H−W」を使用した。
Claims (1)
- 高分子マトリックスと、粒子が繋がった鎖状構造の第1金属フィラーとを混練し、前記第1金属フィラー及び該第1金属フィラーが凝集した第2金属フィラーを含む混練物を得る第1混練工程と、
前記第1混練工程で得られた前記混練物に低分子有機化合物のみを加えて混練する第2混練工程と、
を含む、PTCサーミスタ組成物の製造方法。
