Description
本出願は2001年5月9日出願の米国仮出願第60/289737号「ガスクラスタイオンビーム技術を応用した人工股関節の作用を改善する方法とシステム」の優先権を主張する。
発明の分野
本発明は人工関節等の医療具に関し、特にガスクラスタイオンビーム技術を利用した人工関節の磨耗を減少させる方法とシステムに関する。
関節交換すなわち関節形成術は外科処置であり、関節の疾患部分を取り除いて新しい人工部分と交換する。現在、これら人工関節は高架橋ポリエチレン、金属-金属およびセラミック-セラミック材料のごとき改良材料で製造されている。関節交換後は骨軟化が大きな問題であり、インプラント(埋込材)自体の破片による炎症が関与すると考えられている。例えば全股関節交換の場合、幾分かの骨軟化症状は術後10年以内に40%程度で発生する。
それら目的並びに他の目的は以下で解説する本発明によって達成される。
Claims (10)
- ガスクラスタイオンビーム処理によって人工関節の1部材の非平坦表面を改良する装置であって、
真空チャンバと、
該真空チャンバと作動式に連動し、ガスクラスタイオンビームを発生させるガスクラスタイオンビーム源と、
通路に沿ってガスクラスタイオンビームを加速させる加速器と、
該ガスクラスタイオンビーム通路内で改良対象の非平坦表面を配置調整させる配置手段であって、照射時に垂直入射ビームの15°以内のビーム入射角で前記非平坦表面の所定部分を照射するように前記人工関節の前記1部材を関節処理する手段を含んだ配置手段と、
加速された前記ガスクラスタイオンビームで前記非平坦表面の異なる部分を非均質に照射する照射手段であって、該非平坦表面の溝または窪みの所定の紋様のエッチングを制御するように設計されている照射手段と、
を含んで構成されることを特徴とする装置。 - 表面に形成された所定の紋様は潤滑剤保持のために多様な高さを有することを特徴とする請求項1記載の装置。
- 表面に形成された所定の紋様は1ミクロン未満の高さであり、潤滑剤は体液であることを特徴とする請求項1記載の装置。
- 表面を非均質に照射する照射手段は加速されたガスクラスタイオンビームを照射する前に前記表面上または該表面に近接して置かれる表面用マスクを含んでおり、該マスクは複数の開口部、多様な厚み、またはそれらの組み合わせを有しており、ガスクラスタイオンビーム照射による表面改良に影響を及ぼす紋様を形成していることを特徴とする請求項1記載の装置。
- ガスクラスタイオンビーム処理によって人工関節部材の非平坦表面を改良する方法であって、
真空チャンバ内でガスクラスタイオンビームを形成するステップと、
処理のため、該ガスクラスタイオンビームの通路内に前記真空チャンバ内の前記表面を配置するステップと、
前記ガスクラスタイオンビームで前記表面の異なる部分を非均質に照射して該表面に溝通または窪みの所定の紋様を形成する照射ステップと、
照射時に垂直入射ビームの15°以内のビーム入射角で前記人工関節部材の複数部分を照射するように該人工関節部材を関節処理するステップと、
を含んで成ることを特徴とする方法。 - 紋様は潤滑剤を保持のために多様な高さを有していることを特徴とする請求項5記載の方法。
- 紋様は1ミクロン未満の多様な高さを有しており、潤滑剤は体液であることを特徴とする請求項5記載の方法。
- 照射時にマスクが表面上または該表面に近接して置かれて照射紋様加工を制御し、該マスクは複数の開口部、多様な厚み、またはそれらの組み合わせを有しており、ガスクラスタイオンビーム照射による表面改良に影響を及ぼす紋様を形成していることを特徴とする請求項5記載の方法。
- マスクは金属ホイルまたはフィルムであることを特徴とする請求項8記載の方法。
- ガスクラスタイオンビームを所定の小径に焦点処理あるいはコリメート処理するステップをさらに含んでおり、非均質照射ステップは該小径ガスクラスタイオンビームに対して表面を制御下で配置処理することで実行されることを特徴とする請求項5記載の方法。
