また、下側装置50には、下側紙幣ガイド部材51の左右両側端部からそれぞれ上方に向けて突設された2つの縦壁部材52が設けられている。この2つの縦壁部材52の内壁により、挿入される紙幣はその幅方向の位置決めがなされる。
上側装置60には、紙幣挿入口41の上側に上側紙幣ガイド部材61が前方へ向けて突設されている。上側紙幣ガイド部材61は、2つの縦壁部材52の内壁52aとの間に隙間62を隔てて、縦壁部材52の内壁とは非接触状態で対向配置されており、紙幣挿入口41に挿入される紙幣の先端を紙幣挿入口41に向け案内する。隙間62は、上側装置60を閉止状態としたときに上側紙幣ガイド部材61が下側装置50の縦壁部材52内壁に接触しないように設けられている。

なお、本実施形態では、突起部53は、縦壁部材52と一体に形成したが、突起部53を縦壁部材52に後付けする構造とすることができる。また、突起部53の形状、寸法は、隙間62の先端部を下側から覆って紙幣端縁の入り込みを阻止し得るものであればどのようなものであってもよい。
