市販のナトリウムカルボキシメチルセルロースをSigma−Aldrich社から入手する。N,N,N−トリメチル−3−(パーフルオロオクチルスルホンアミド)プロパン−1−アミニウムヨウ化物をAmerican Custom Chemicals社から入手する。加熱槽を備えた500ミリリットルビーカーを用意する。ビーカーは、電磁撹拌機を含む。このビーカーに、250ミリリットルの脱イオン水、および0.02モルのナトリウムを含む6.6グラムのナトリウムカルボキシメチルセルロースを添加する。ベーカーの温度を80℃まで上昇させ、セルロースが完全に溶解するまで混合物を攪拌する。得られたビーカー中透明溶液に、0.02モルの第四級アンモニウム塩(N,N,N−トリメチル−3−(パーフルオロオクチルスルホンアミド)プロパン−1−アミニウムヨウ化物)を添加し、混合物を1時間反応させる。ガラスフリットを使用する濾過により白色固体を単離し、24時間にわたって空気乾燥させ、反応生成物は、主として以下の構造からなる。
変性ナトリウムカルボキシセルロースを含むシアン顔料固体インク。得られる重量百分率が、後の混合工程において添加される顔料および分散剤をも含むように、以下の材料を600ミリリットルのビーカーに秤り取る。80.12グラム(48.9%)のワックスA、23.1グラム(14.1%)のトリアミドワックス、24グラムの(14.6%)のKEMAMIDE(登録商標)S−180、23.1グラム(14.1%)のKE−100樹脂、4グラム(2.4%)のウレタン樹脂、0.496グラム(0.3%)のNaugard(登録商標)445および2.304グラム(1.4%)のトリアミドワックス。材料を120℃のオーブンで溶融させ、十分に混合し、次いで120℃に加熱されたUnion Process社から入手可能なSzegvari01アトライタに移し、Hoover Precision Products社から入手可能な1800グラムの440C型の直径1/8インチのステンレス鋼球を充填する。加熱したインペラをその集成体に取りつけ、容器の上部のステンレス鋼球が互いに静かにぶつかり合うようにインペラ速度を調整する。この攪拌溶液に予測実施例5の3.2グラム(2%)の変性ナトリウムカルボキシセルロースを添加する。混合物を、4から5時間にわたって300RPMで摩砕させる。この混合物に、Clariant社から入手可能な2.88グラム(1.8%)のピグメントブルー15:3および相乗剤としての(Sun Chemicalから入手可能な)0.72グラム(0.41%)のSunflo(登録商標)SFD−B124を添加する。顔料インクを300RPMで16から18時間にわたって摩耗させ、最終摩耗混合物をステンレス鋼球から単離し、Advantec社から商業的に入手可能なKST−47濾過装置を使用して、5ミクロンステンレス鋼メッシュで濾過する。

R 1 、R 2 、R 3 およびR 4 は、同一であるか、または異なっており、R 1 、R 2 、R 3 およびR 4 は、(i)直鎖状または分枝状、飽和または不飽和、環式または非環式、置換または無置換のアルキルであってよく、ヘテロ原子がアルキル基に場合により存在していてもよいアルキル基、(ii)置換または無置換のアリールであってよく、ヘテロ原子がアリール基に場合により存在していてもよいアリール基、(iii)置換または無置換のアリールアルキルであってよく、アリールアルキルのアルキル部分が、直鎖状または分枝状、飽和または不飽和、環式または非環式、置換または無置換であってよく、ヘテロ原子がアリールアルキルのアリール部分またはアルキル部分に場合により存在していてもよいアリールアルキル基、(iv)置換または無置換のアルキルアリールであってよく、アルキルアリールのアルキル部分が、直鎖状または分枝状、飽和または不飽和、環式または非環式、置換または無置換であってよく、ヘテロ原子がアルキルアリール基のアルキル部分またはアリール部分に場合により存在していてもよいアルキルアリール基からそれぞれ独立に選択され、R 1 、R 2 、R 3 およびR 4 の少なくとも1つが、8から48個の炭素原子を有する長鎖アルキル基である)の化合物である、相変化インク組成物。 - 前記変性多糖類塩は、式
(式中、mは5から15の整数であり、nは70から200の整数である)の化合物である、請求項1に記載の相変化インク組成物。 - mが12であり、nが166である請求項2に記載の相変化インク組成物。
- ワックスと、
任意の着色剤と、
変性多糖類塩と
を含み、
前記変性多糖類塩は、式
(式中、nは166であり、mは12である)の化合物であるか、または変性多糖類塩は、式
(式中、mは5から15の整数であり、nは70から200の整数である)の化合物である、相変化インク組成物。 - 前記変性多糖類塩は、相変化インク組成物の全重量に対して0.5から3重量パーセントの量で存在する請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載の相変化インク組成物。
- 前記ワックスは、ポリメチレンワックス、ポリエチレンワックス、またはそれらの混合物もしくは組合せであり、あるいはワックスは生分解性ワックスである請求項1〜5のいずれか一項に記載の相変化インク組成物。
- 前記ワックスは、相変化インク組成物の全重量に対して25重量パーセントから65重量パーセントの量で相変化インク組成物中に存在する請求項1〜6のいずれか一項に記載の相変化インク組成物。
- モノアミド、トリアミドもしくはそれらの混合物をさらに含み、または
(a)ステアリルステアルアミド、(b)トリアミドもしくは(c)それらの混合物をさらに含み、または
イソシアネート由来材料、ウレタンイソシアネート由来材料、尿素イソシアネート由来材料、ウレタン/尿素イソシアネート由来材料もしくはそれらの混合物をさらに含み、または
1つまたは複数のアミドと1つまたは複数のイソシアネート由来材料との混合物をさらに含む請求項1〜7のいずれか一項に記載の相変化インク組成物。 - 請求項1〜8のいずれか一項に記載の相変化インク組成物を含有するインクジェットプリンタスティックまたはペレット。
