さらに障子2が閉まると、図4(c)に示すように、上枠4の戸当たり片12の見付面(リップ溝13及びタイト材14が設けてある部分)に押されて障子固定ピース3が上框4の見付壁の外周側縁部19を支点として外周側に向けて回動する。
それに伴い、図4(d)に示すように、障子固定ピース3の枠係合部31が上枠9の戸当たり片12の障子2と反対側の面に引っ掛かり、これにより障子2が開かないように枠1に固定される。枠係合部31の戸当たり片12との掛かり代Yは、5~10mmとしてある。枠係合部31は変形しないように十分な強度を持たせてあり、上枠9の戸当たり片12との掛かり代Yも十分大きく取ってあるため、ダンパーによる強い付勢力が作用しても枠係合部31が戸当たり片12から外れて障子2が開くことはない。なお、上述した障子2を閉める操作は、枠1の室内側面を床に置いて寝かせた状態で行うことができる。

障子固定ピース3の枠係合部31が上枠9の戸当たり片12から外れると、図8(c)に示すように、障子2はダンパーの力で勢いよく開くが、バネ片38の付勢力により枠係合部31が外周向きに回動して、框係合部23の溝24内に設けた外れ止め用の突起26a,26bが上框4の見付壁の外周側縁部19にしっかり掛かるため、障子2が開く際の反動で障子固定ピース3が外れて落下するのを防ぐことができる。

また本障子固定ピース3は、框内周側に延出する手掛け部34を有し、手掛け部34は、障子2を閉鎖する際に框4の内周側から手を掛けるものなので、障子2を閉める際に手掛け部34に手を掛けることで枠係合部31を内周側に回動した状態に保持し、障子2をスムーズに閉鎖できる。
また本障子固定ピース3は、工具差込穴35を有し、工具差込穴35に工具36を差し込んで力を加えることで枠係合部31が内周側に回動して枠9の戸当たり片12から外れるので、障子2を開ける際の作業性も良い。工具差込穴35が室外側に向かって外周側に傾斜して設けてあると、障子2を開ける際の作業性が一層向上する。
さらに本障子固定ピース3は、框4の長手方向にスライド自在であり、外側にスライドしたときに縦枠6の戸当たり片7の障子2と反対側の面に対向する開き規制片33を有するので、万が一、枠係合部31が外れても開き規制片33が縦枠6の戸当たり片7に引っ掛かることで障子2が開くのを防止できる。
障子固定ピース3に、上框4の室内側面に押接するバネ片38が設けてあると、障子2が開いたときの反動で障子固定ピース3が外れて落下するのを防止できる。
本障子固定ピース3を使用することで、粘着テープを貼ったり剥がしたりする手間が要らなくなり、粘着テープの跡が残ることもない。障子固定ピース3は、繰り返し使用することができ、経済的である。
