Description

The present invention relates to an envelope manufacturing device that forms two zipper breaking lines on a fold line of a seal piece formed at the opening of an envelope and on a line parallel to the fold line, and manufactures envelopes with a tear-off tape affixed to the seal piece along the fold line.

Patent Document 1 (JP Patent No. 4039573) describes an envelope (1) in which a cut hole (2a) such as a perforation is formed on the fold of the sealing piece (2) of the envelope (1), and a wire material (3) such as thread or tape is stretched along the inside of the fold while a cut piece (4) is formed at the corner of the envelope (1). After the cut piece (4) is separated from the envelope (1), the wire material (3) cuts along the fold where the cut hole (2a) was formed, making it easy to open the envelope (1) (see Figures 1 to 5, etc.). Patent Document 2 (JP Patent Publication 2018-1426) describes an envelope processing device for manufacturing such envelopes.

Patent Document 3 (JP Patent Publication 2021-11317A) describes an envelope with an opening zipper that has two tear lines (9) parallel to a sealing piece (5) and one of the tear lines (9) is provided on the fold line (4) at the top of the cover (1). The zipper can be easily opened by pinching the grip part (10) of the opening zipper (8) and pulling it up along the tear line (9).

特許第4039573号公報(国際公開2003/86885号)Japanese Patent No. 4039573 (International Publication No. 2003/86885) 特開2018-1426号公報(特許第6090702号公報)JP 2018-1426 A (Patent No. 6090702 A) 特開2021-11317号公報(特許第6872826号公報)JP 2021-11317 A (Patent No. 6872826 A)

However, in the envelopes described in Patent Documents 1 and 2, because the envelopes are cut along the fold line where the cut holes (2a) are formed with the wire (3), it is necessary to use thread or a very narrow tape for the wire (3). If the length or width of the cut holes (2a) formed along the fold line is large, there is a risk that the fold line will tear before the envelope (1) is opened if the documents or the like to be placed in the envelope (1) are thick.
In addition, the zippered envelope for opening described in Patent Document 3 requires that the strength of the two parallel tear lines (9) be approximately the same. If the strength is too low, there is a risk that the fold line (4) will tear before opening if the documents or the like to be placed in the envelope are thick, as with the envelopes described in Patent Documents 1 and 2. On the other hand, if the strength is too high, the two tear lines (9) may not be cut smoothly when opening the envelope.

To provide an envelope manufacturing device which solves these problems, reduces the risk of tearing the zipper break line at the fold portion formed on the fold line before opening, and smoothly cuts two separation lines when opening the envelope.

The envelope 1 of Example 1 comprises a body 2 having a front portion (the lower side in Figure 1) and a back portion (the upper side in Figure 1) and closed at the bottom, and a sealing piece 4 extending from the top of the body 2 and used to close and seal the opening of the body 2 by folding it along a fold line 3.
Double-sided tape is attached along the upper edge of the back side of the sealing piece 4, and after placing the contents through the opening of the main body 2, the release sheet 5 of the double-sided tape is peeled off to expose the adhesive layer, the sealing piece 4 is folded along the fold line 3, and the adhesive layer is attached to the back side of the main body 2, so that the envelope 1 can be easily sealed.
In addition, a first zipper break line 6 is formed on the fold line 3 of the sealing piece 4, a second zipper break line 7 is formed on a line parallel to the fold line 3, and an opening tape 8 is attached to the back side of the sealing piece 4 along the fold line 3 between the first zipper break line 6 and the second zipper break line 7.

As shown in FIG. 2, the first zipper breaking line 6 and the second zipper breaking line 7 have tape gripping slits 9 and 10 at both ends for gripping a tear tape 8.
The first zipper fracture line 6 has a short slit 11 formed at a first interval 12 from the tape gripping slit 9 at one end (the left end in Figure 2) to the tape gripping slit 10 at the other end (the right end in Figure 2), and the second zipper fracture line 7 has a long slit 13 formed at a second interval 14 from the tape gripping slit 9 at one end to the tape gripping slit 10 at the other end.
In Example 1, the tape gripping slits 9 and 10 are 5 mm, the short slit 11 is 1 mm, the first gap 12 is 1 mm, the long slit 13 is 2 mm, and the second gap 14 is 1 mm; however, the lengths of the tape gripping slits 9 and 10 can be appropriately selected and determined from the ranges of 2 to 7 mm, the short slit 11 is 0.2 to 1.2 mm, the first gap 12 is 1 to 2 mm, the long slit 13 is 1.5 to 2.5 mm, and the second gap 14 is 0.5 to 1.5 mm, taking into consideration the material and thickness of the envelope 1, the user's requests, etc.
For example, if the envelope 1 is thin or the user desires the first zipper breaking line 6 to be less likely to tear, the length of the short slit 11 can be selected from the ranges of 0.2 to 0.5 mm, the first gap 12 can be selected from the ranges of 1.5 to 2 mm, the length of the long slit 13 can be selected from the ranges of 1 to 2 mm, and the second gap 14 can be selected from the ranges of 1 to 1.5 mm. If the envelope 1 is thick or the user desires the envelope 1 to be easy to open, the length of the short slit 11 can be selected from the ranges of 0.5 to 1.2 mm, the first gap 12 can be selected from the ranges of 1 to 1.5 mm, the length of the long slit 13 can be selected from the ranges of 2 to 2.5 mm, and the second gap 14 can be selected from the ranges of 0.5 to 1 mm.

A method of using the envelope 1 of the first embodiment having the above configuration will be described.
When documents or other contents are enclosed in the envelope 1, the contents are inserted through the opening of the main body 2, the release sheet 5 of the sealing piece 4 is peeled off to expose the adhesive layer, the sealing piece 4 is folded to the back side along the folding line 3, and the adhesive layer is adhered to the back side of the main body 2 to seal it.
When opening envelope 1 containing an item, the thumb of the right hand is placed between first zipper breaking line 6 and second zipper breaking line 7 at the left end of seal piece 4, and seal piece 4 is turned up, causing the portion sandwiched between two tape gripping slits 9 to bend, allowing one to grasp the opening tape 8 affixed to the back side of seal piece 4. If the opening tape 8 is then pulled up and to the upper right, since the opening tape 8 is affixed to the seal piece along fold line 3, the first zipper breaking line 6 is reliably cut, and the second zipper breaking line 7 is smoothly cut in conjunction with the cutting of first zipper breaking line 6, allowing envelope 1 to be easily opened.
Also, by placing the thumb of the left hand between the first zipper breaking line 6 and the second zipper breaking line 7 at the right end of the closure piece 4 and turning the closure piece 4 up, the portion sandwiched between the two tape gripping slits 10 will bend, allowing the opening tape 8 to be grasped in the same way as if the closure piece 4 had been turned up with the right hand. If the opening tape 8 is then pulled up and to the left, the first zipper breaking line 6 is reliably cut, and the second zipper breaking line 7 is also smoothly cut, in the same way as if the opening tape 8 had been pulled up and to the right with the right hand, making it easy to open the envelope 1 with the left hand as well.

FIG. 3 is a plan view of the sealing piece 4 side of the envelope 15 of the second embodiment in a sealed state.
Envelope 15 of Example 2 differs from envelope 1 of Example 1 in that, instead of second zipper break line 7 in envelope 1 of Example 1 (Figure 2), envelope 15 has a third zipper break line 18 having tape gripping inclined cuts 16 and 17 in which tape gripping cuts 9 and 10 are inclined downward, and in that envelope 15 has triangular cutouts 19 between the left and right ends of sealing piece 4 and both ends of third zipper break line 18.
Since the other configurations and methods of use are similar to those of the first embodiment, detailed explanations will be omitted, and the same numbers as those in Figures 1 and 2 will be used for the numbers other than the envelope 15, the tape gripping inclined cuts 16 and 17, the third zipper break line 18, and the cutout portion 19.

FIG. 4 is a plan view of the sealing piece 4 side of the envelope 20 of the third embodiment in a sealed state.
The envelope 20 of Example 3 differs from the envelope 1 of Example 1 in that, instead of the first zipper break line 6 and the second zipper break line 7 in the envelope 1 of Example 1 (Figure 2), there are no tape gripping cuts 9 and 10, but rather a fourth zipper break line 21 having only a short cut 11 and a first gap 12, and a fifth zipper break line 22 having only a long cut 13 and a second gap 14, and in that an opening tape 8 protrudes from the left and right ends of the sealing piece 4.
The other configurations and the method of use when enclosing documents or other contents in the envelope 20 are the same as in Example 1, so detailed explanations will be omitted, and the same numbers as in Figures 1 and 2 will be used for the numbers other than the envelope 20, the fourth zipper break line 21, and the fifth zipper break line 22.

When opening the envelope 20 containing an item, the thumb of the right hand is placed against and pinched against the left end of the opening tape 8 protruding from the left and right ends of the closure piece 4, thereby enabling the user to grasp the opening tape 8 attached to the back side of the closure piece 4. When the opening tape 8 is then pulled up and to the upper right, the fourth zipper breaking line 21 is reliably cut, and the fifth zipper breaking line 22 is smoothly cut in conjunction with the cutting of the fourth zipper breaking line 21, allowing the envelope 20 to be easily opened.
Furthermore, if the thumb of the left hand is placed on the right end of the tear tape 8 and pinched, the tear tape 8 can be grasped in the same way as if it were pinched with the right hand. Then, if the tear tape 8 is pulled up and to the upper left, the fourth zipper breaking line 21 is reliably cut and the fifth zipper breaking line 22 is also smoothly cut, in the same way as if the tear tape 8 was pulled up and to the upper right with the right hand, so that the envelope 20 can be easily opened with the left hand.

FIG. 5 is a plan view of the sealing piece 4 side of the envelope 23 of the fourth embodiment in a sealed state.
Envelope 23 of Example 4 differs from envelope 1 of Example 1 in that, in addition to first zipper break line 6 and second zipper break line 7 in envelope 1 of Example 1 (Figure 2), envelope 23 of Example 4 has a first slit 24 extending from the first zipper break line 6 toward the second zipper break line 7 and a second slit 25 extending from the second zipper break line 7 toward the first zipper break line 6, and that first slit 24 and second slit 25 do not intersect or connect to each other.
The other configurations and the method of use when enclosing documents or other contents in the envelope 23 are the same as in Example 1, so detailed explanations will be omitted, and the same numbers as in Figures 1 and 2 will be used for the numbers other than the envelope 23, the first cut 24, and the second cut 25.

When opening the envelope 23 containing an item, as with the envelope 1 of Example 1, the opening tape 8 attached to the back side of the closure piece 4 can be grasped by pinching the bent portion at the left end of the closure piece 4 with the thumb and index finger of the right hand, and by pulling the opening tape 8 upward and to the right, the first zipper breaking line 6 and the second zipper breaking line 7 are smoothly cut, making it easy to open the envelope 23. Also, as with the envelope 1 of Example 1, by pulling the opening tape 8 upward and to the left with the left hand, the first zipper breaking line 6 and the second zipper breaking line 7 are smoothly cut, making it easy to open the envelope 23.
Furthermore, since the envelope 23 of Example 4 has a first slit 24 and a second slit 25, when the opening tape 8 is pulled upward to the upper right or upper left, a breaking sound can be generated with a pitch that corresponds to the left-right spacing between the first slit 24 and the second slit 25.
The pitch of the breaking sound varies depending on the material and thickness of the envelope 23, but by reducing the left-right distance between the first cut 24 and the second cut 25, a high-pitched breaking sound is generated, and by increasing the distance, a low-pitched breaking sound is generated, so that the breaking sound can be controlled.

FIG. 6 is a plan view of the sealing piece 4 side of the envelope 26 of the fifth embodiment in a sealed state.
Envelope 26 of Example 5, like envelope 20 of Example 3 (FIG. 4), does not have tape gripping cuts 9 and 10, but has a fourth zipper break line 21 having only a short cut 11 and a first gap 12, and a fifth zipper break line 22 having only a long cut 13 and a second gap 14, instead of first zipper break line 6 and second zipper break line 7 in envelope 1 of Example 1. Furthermore, envelope 26 of Example 5 differs from envelope 1 of Example 1 in that it has dividing lines 27 at both corners on the opening side of envelope 26 to form cut pieces 28, and has braille sections 29 provided near cut pieces 28. The other configuration and the method of use when enclosing documents or other contents in the envelope 26 are the same as in Example 1, so detailed explanations will be omitted. The fourth zipper break line 21 and the fifth zipper break line 22 will be numbered the same as in Figure 4, and the numbers other than the envelope 26, the dividing line 27, the cut piece 28 and the Braille section 29 will be numbered the same as in Figures 1 and 2.

When opening the envelope 26 containing an item, one pinches either the left or right piece 28 between thumb and index finger and tears it from the envelope 26 along the dividing line 27, and the opening tape 8 is grasped. By pulling the piece 28 upward to the upper right or upper left, the fourth zipper breaking line 21 and the fifth zipper breaking line 22 are smoothly cut, and the envelope 26 can be easily opened. In addition, since the braille portion 29 is formed near the piece 28, even a visually impaired person can immediately recognize the position of the piece 28, and the envelope 26 can be easily opened without using a tool such as a cutter.

FIG. 7 is a perspective view of an envelope manufacturing apparatus 30 for manufacturing the envelope 26 of the fifth embodiment, FIG. 8 is a plan view of the envelope manufacturing apparatus 30, and FIG.
As shown in FIGS. 7 to 9, the envelope manufacturing device 30 includes the following means (1) to (8).
(1) An envelope feeding means 31 for setting a plurality of envelopes each of which is made up of a main body 2 and a sealing piece 4, has no double-sided tape having a peel-off sheet 5, no opening tape 8 attached, and no fourth zipper breaking line 21, no fifth zipper breaking line 22, no dividing line 27, no cut-out piece 28, and no Braille section 29 formed therein, and feeds the set envelopes one by one with the back side facing up from one side edge.
(2) An envelope transport means 32 that transports the envelopes fed from the envelope feed means 31 one by one in the longitudinal direction of the seal piece 4 (the left-right direction of the envelope).
(3) A seal opening means 33 for forcibly opening the seal 4 of the envelope being conveyed.

(4) With the closure piece 4 open, the envelope is transported in the longitudinal direction of the closure piece 4 (left and right direction of the envelope) to form a fourth zipper breaking line 21 on the fold line 3, and at the same time, a fifth zipper breaking line 22 is formed on the closure piece 4 on a line parallel to the fold line 3, and an arc-shaped dividing line 27 is formed across the fold line 3 on the closure piece 4 and the side edge of the main body 2 by a zipper processing means 34.
In addition, the zipper processing means 34 has a cylindrical magnet cylinder 35 extending in the width direction of the envelope manufacturing device 30 at its lower part, a cylindrical anvil roll 36 in contact with the upper surface of the magnet cylinder 35, and a pressure adjustment unit 37 that adjusts the contact pressure between the magnet cylinder 35 and the anvil roll 36.
On the cylindrical surface of the magnet cylinder 35, a fourth zipper break line cutter section consisting of blades for forming the fourth zipper break line 21 (the blades having a length corresponding to the short slit 11 are arranged at a first interval 12) and a fifth zipper break line cutter section consisting of blades for forming the fifth zipper break line 22 (the blades having a length corresponding to the long slit 13 are arranged at a second interval 14) are provided in parallel at a predetermined interval (about four times the tape width when the opening tape 8 is a thin nylon tape, and about twice the tape width when the opening tape 8 is a thick paper tape), and further, two dividing line cutter sections consisting of blades for forming the dividing line 27 (the blades corresponding to the dividing line 27 are arranged in an arc shape) are provided. Therefore, the circumference of the magnet cylinder 35 is set to be slightly larger than the width of the envelope 26.

(5) An opening tape attaching means 38 for attaching an opening tape 8 to the zippered envelope flap 4 along the fold line 3 and cutting the left and right ends of the zippered envelope flap 4.
(6) A double-sided tape application means 39 for applying a double-sided tape having a release sheet 5 along the upper edge of the sealing piece 4 to which the opening tape 8 has been attached, between the fifth zipper breaking line 22 and the upper edge of the sealing piece 4, and cutting the double-sided tape slightly inside both ends of the sealing piece 4.
(7) A Braille portion forming means 40 for forming a Braille portion 29 (the Braille character “AK” in FIG. 6 ) indicating the presence of the cut piece 28 in the vicinity of the dividing line 27 (the area surrounded by the fourth zipper breaking line 21, the fifth zipper breaking line 22 and the dividing line 27 in FIG. 6 ) on the sealing piece 4 to which the double-sided tape is attached.
(8) An envelope sending means 41 for sending out the completed envelope 26 with the Braille portion 29 formed thereon in an upright position in a horizontal orientation.

Modifications of the envelopes in the first to fifth embodiments are listed below.
(Variation 1) In Examples 1 to 5, a double-sided tape having a release sheet 5 was attached to the back side of the seal piece 4, but it is also possible to form an adhesive layer on the back side of the seal piece 4 and then attach the release sheet 5 to the surface of the adhesive layer.
(Modification 2) The first zipper rupture line 6 and the second zipper rupture line 7 in the envelope 1 of Example 1 (FIG. 2) and the envelope 23 of Example 4 (FIG. 5) have tape gripping slits 9, 10 at both ends for gripping the tear tape 8, and the first zipper rupture line 6 and the third zipper rupture line 18 in the envelope 15 of Example 2 (FIG. 3) have tape gripping slits 9, 10, 16, 17 at both ends for gripping the tear tape 8, but since the tear tape 8 can be gripped with fingertips to turn up the closure piece 4, it is not necessary to provide the tape gripping slits 9, 10 or 9, 10, 16, 17. Also, the tape gripping slits 9, 16 may be provided only at one end, or the tape gripping slits 10, 17 may be provided only at the other end.
(Variation 3) In envelope 15 of Example 2 (Figure 3), a third zipper break line 18 having inclined cuts 16 and 17 for tape gripping is used, but the second zipper break line 7 having cuts 9 and 10 for tape gripping in envelope 1 of Example 1 may also be used.
However, since the envelope 15 has the cutout 19, the tape gripping slits 9, 10 do not have to reach the left and right ends of the sealing piece 4 (the tips of the cutout 19).
As can be seen from the explanations of Examples 1 to 5 and Modified Examples 2 and 3, in Examples 1, 2, and 4 and Modified Example 3, a first zipper break line 6 is formed on the fold line 3, in Examples 3, 5 and Modified Example 2, a fourth zipper break line 21 is formed on the fold line 3, in Examples 1, 4 and Modified Example 3, a second zipper break line 7 is formed on a line parallel to the fold line 3, in Example 2, a third zipper break line 18 is formed on a line parallel to the fold line 3, and in Examples 3, 5 and Modified Example 2, a fifth zipper break line 22 is formed on a line parallel to the fold line 3.
Therefore, in the claims, the zipper break line formed on the fold line 3 will be collectively referred to as the "fold portion zipper break line," and the zipper break line formed on a line parallel to the fold line 3 of the sealing piece 4 will be collectively referred to as the "sealing portion zipper break line."

(Variation 4) The envelope manufacturing device 30 (FIGS. 7 to 9) according to the fifth embodiment includes the envelope feeding means 31, but if an envelope can be fed directly into the envelope conveying means 32 by hand, the envelope feeding means 31 becomes unnecessary. Also, if an envelope with the seal piece 4 open is set in the envelope feeding means 31, or an envelope with the seal piece 4 open is fed into the envelope conveying means 32, the envelope can be conveyed with the seal piece 4 open and the back side facing up, so that the seal piece opening means 33 does not need to be provided.
(Variation 5) The magnetic cylinder 35 of the envelope manufacturing apparatus 30 in Example 5 had a fourth zipper break line cutter unit consisting of a blade for forming the fourth zipper break line 21 on its cylindrical surface, and a fifth zipper break line cutter unit consisting of a blade for forming the fifth zipper break line 22. However, when manufacturing the envelope 1 in Example 1, the envelope 15 in Example 2, and the envelope 23 in Example 4, the fourth zipper break line cutter unit and the fifth zipper break line cutter unit must be modified as follows.
<When manufacturing the envelope 1 of Example 1 (FIG. 2)>
The blades near both ends of the blade for forming the fourth zipper break line 21 and the blade for forming the fifth zipper break line 22 are changed to a first zipper break line cutter section and a second zipper break line cutter section, each having a length corresponding to the tape gripping notches 9, 10.
<When manufacturing the envelope 15 (FIG. 3) of the second embodiment>
The blades near both ends of the blade for forming the fourth zipper break line 21 are changed to a first zipper break line cutter section having a length corresponding to the tape gripping notches 9 and 10, and the blades near both ends of the blade for forming the fifth zipper break line 22 are changed to a third zipper break line cutter section having an inclined blade having a length corresponding to the tape gripping oblique notches 16 and 17.
<When manufacturing the envelope 23 (FIG. 5) of the fourth embodiment>
A blade having a length corresponding to the first cut 24 is changed to a cutter section for a first zipper break line/first cut added so as to be perpendicular to the blade forming the first zipper break line 6, and a blade having a length corresponding to the second cut 25 is changed to a cutter section for a second zipper break line/second cut added so as to be perpendicular to the blade forming the second zipper break line 7.

(Variation 6) The envelope manufacturing apparatus 30 of Example 5 was equipped with a double-sided tape application means 39, but the double-sided tape having a peel-off sheet 5 is intended to fold the sealing piece 4 along the fold line 3 when documents or other contents are enclosed in the envelope 1, facilitating adhesion to the back surface of the main body 2, and is not related to opening the envelope 26, so that the double-sided tape application means 39 does not need to be provided.
(7) The envelope manufacturing apparatus 30 of Example 5 was equipped with a Braille portion forming means 40, but since the envelopes 2, 3, 20, and 23 of Examples 1 to 4 (Figures 2 to 5) do not have Braille portions formed thereon, when manufacturing these envelopes, it is not necessary to provide the Braille portion forming means 40.
(8) The envelope manufacturing apparatus 30 of Example 5 was equipped with an envelope sending means 41, but if it is not necessary to send out the envelopes 26 in an upright position on their side and it is sufficient to simply stack them flat, then a stocker can be provided in which the envelopes 26 sent out from the envelope conveying means 32 can be dropped and stored, and if the boxing work is to be performed manually, then nothing can be provided.
