Description

The present invention relates to an elastic member that can be easily sewn onto a towel to shrink it into an accordion-like state.

An invention has been proposed that is different in shape from ordinary towels and is ideal for promoting health.
For example, Patent Document 1 proposes an invention in which pleats formed by gathering a towel are provided on the front and back surfaces.

特開2008-272391号JP 2008-272391 A

However, in a configuration such as that described in Patent Document 1, in which pleats are created on the front and back sides of a towel by pulling it together, each pleat has a free end (tip) and a base, and the base in particular becomes hard, making it resemble a scrubbing brush.
As a result, when used by elderly people or people who experience itching all over the body due to food allergies or the like, there is a problem that the itching worsens, so they have to avoid using it, and because the mass and volume are insufficient, they do not provide a sense of satisfaction when used.
Therefore, in order to achieve a sufficient sense of mass and volume, the towel must be made larger, and it is not possible to achieve a sense of mass and volume while keeping the outer shape compact.
In addition, to create a towel that is compact in shape and has a sense of mass and volume, proper sewing is also required.

Therefore, the present invention focuses on the above-mentioned problems and provides an elastic member for sewing towels, which can be simply sewn onto a towel to easily create a towel that has a compact outer shape but a sense of mass and volume.

1) By simply sewing it onto a towel, you can easily shrink the towel into an accordion-like shape, creating a towel with increased mass, three-dimensionality, and volume.
2) At least one row of the winged elastic cord storage cylinder is sewn in, so there is no need to worry about the accordion-like shape being distorted by repeated washing or wear and tear, and the accordion-like shape will not return to its original shape.
3) By shrinking a towel into an accordion-like shape, the towel's longitudinal length becomes shorter, but the shortened length can be made up by using a towel that is longer before shrinking.

FIG. 1 is a plan view showing an entire elastic cord 1 and a winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2 used to sew the elastic cord 1 to towel cloth 5, and FIG. 2 is an end view showing a cross section of the winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2.
The winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2 comprises a bag-shaped body 3 and a wing-shaped body 4 extending from the bag-shaped body 3.
The elastic cord 1 is stored in a bag-like body 3, and one end (the left end in Fig. 1) of the elastic cord 1 is fixed to the winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2 by sewing with a sewing thread 7 while it is stored in the bag-like body 3.
The reason why it is better to sew one end is to prevent the elastic cord 1 from slipping out of the bag-like body 3 and to stably attach the elastic cord 1 to the winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2.
The rubber string 1 is not sewn to the winged rubber string storage cylinder 2 except for one end sewn to the winged rubber string storage cylinder 2, so the other end can be freely pulled and stretched.
The elastic member for sewing towels is sewn onto the towel cloth 5 from above the wing-like body 4 extending from the bag-like body 3 in a state where the rubber string 1 is housed in the bag-like body 3 of the winged rubber string housing cylinder 2.
When sewing to the towel cloth 5, only the winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2 of the towel sewing elastic member excluding the elastic cord 1 is gathered to about 50 to 70% of the original length, and in this state, the other end of the elastic cord 1 is sewn and fixed to the winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2 with a sewing thread 7, and then the entire towel sewing elastic member is expanded to its original length and sewn to the towel cloth 5 from above the wing-like body 4 extending from the bag-like body 3.
Then, when the stretching of the towel stitching elastic member is stopped, the towel stitching elastic member contracts, completing the stretch towel as shown in FIG.
When only the winged elastic string storage cylinder 2 is gathered to 50%, 70%, etc. of its original length, a mark can be attached in advance to the elastic string 1 stored in the bag-like body 3 of the winged elastic string storage cylinder 2 so that it is possible to know how much it has been shortened.
When the elastic member for sewing towels, excluding the elastic string 1, and only the winged elastic string storage cylindrical body 2 is gathered together in a shrunk manner, the mark attached to the elastic string 1 makes it possible to know at a glance how much it has been shrunk from the original length.
Only the winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2 is contracted, and the elastic cord 1 that has protruded from the winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2 is unnecessary and can be cut off.

Figure 3 is a plan view showing multiple winged elastic cord storage cylindrical bodies 2, each with one end of an elastic cord 1 and a wing-shaped body 4 sewn to it, sewn in parallel to the terry cloth 5, along the sewing thread 7 shown by the dotted lines. Figure 4 is an end view of a cross section near the center of Figure 3, with the locations where multiple winged elastic cord storage cylindrical bodies 2 are sewn to the terry cloth 5 shown by the dotted lines.
The elastic member for sewing towels, which is made up of the winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2, is sewn to the towel cloth 5 at a location close to the elastic cord 1 of the wing-like body 4 extending from the bag-like body 3.

FIG. 5 shows the toweling 5 of FIG. 3 in a state where it has been accordion-shaped and contracted to about two-thirds of its original length, with the edges of the long sides flared.
The towel cloth 5 can also be shrunk in an accordion-like manner to about half of its original length.
A mark can be put on the elastic cord 1 in advance so that it is possible to know how much it has been shrunk.
By changing the rate of shrinkage relative to the original length, the final towel cloth 5 can be changed to have a repeating S-shape or Z-shape or a dense accordion-like shape.
The state also changes depending on whether the towel cloth 5 is thick or thin.
Therefore, when the elastic member for sewing towels, which is the winged elastic string storage cylinder 2, is sewn to the towel cloth 5, if it is known from the mark on the elastic string 1 how much it has been shrunk, it is possible to imagine the final finished state of the towel cloth 5.
Flared refers to a shape in which the bottom of a garment widens like a morning glory, for example.
For example, when the towel cloth 5 is compressed by the winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2, the towel cloth 5 spreads out from the sewing thread 7 that sews the winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2 to the towel cloth 5 to the edge of the towel cloth 5, or the wings 4 of the winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2 spread out from the sewing thread 7 that sews the winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2 to the towel cloth 5 to the edge of the wings 4.
Furthermore, by sewing a total of four sides (four locations) of the winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2 at two locations on both the left and right ends in the longitudinal direction and two locations on the wing-like body 4 that is sandwiching the elastic cord 1 at the center into the towel fabric 5, a stable stretchable towel is completed.

The following methods can be used to shrink the towel fabric 5 in Figure 3 to the state of the towel fabric 5 in Figure 5.

For example, one end of the elastic cord 1 and a plurality of winged elastic cord storage cylinders 2 with wing-like bodies 4 sewn on are sewn in parallel to a towel cloth 5, which is contracted in an accordion-like manner until it becomes about two-thirds of its original length, and then the other end of the elastic cord 1 is sewn to the towel cloth 5.
This is because the towel cloth 5 is shrunk into an accordion shape, and at the time the other end of the elastic cord 1 is sewn to the towel cloth 5, the towel cloth 5 is shrunk into an accordion shape.
The excess rubber string 1 can be cut off.

Another method is to sew one end of the elastic cord 1 and a winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2 with wing-like bodies 4 sewn to it in parallel to a towel cloth 5, and sew the elastic cord 1 to the end of the towel cloth 5 while pulling the other end of the elastic cord 1.
When the other end of the elastic cord 1 is no longer pulled, the elastic cord 1 returns to its original length, and the elastic cord 1 contracts into an accordion-like shape.

Using either method, pulling in the left-right direction in Figure 5 can increase the length of the towel fabric 5 until there is no overlap of the towel fabric 5, and when pulling stops, it will shrink to about two-thirds of its original length as shown in Figure 5, and the edges of the long sides of the towel fabric 5 can also be flared.

When the towel fabric 5 is in a shrunk state, it appears as a densely packed S-shaped, Z-shaped, accordion-shaped, or other towel fabric when viewed from the side, and when this towel fabric 5 is viewed from above, the edges of the long sides of the towel fabric 5 in Figure 5 are formed into a large flared shape.
In contrast to this, the wing-like body 4 of the winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2 is also formed in a small flare shape from the sewing thread 7 to the edge of the wing-like body 4.

The elastic cord 1 can be sewn to the towel cloth 5 while avoiding the overlapping portions of the shrunken towel cloth 5.
If the elastic cord 1 is not sewn to the towel cloth 5, the towel cloth 5 will repeatedly expand and contract, causing the towel cloth 5 to not be distributed evenly around the elastic cord 1 but to gather in one place, making it difficult to use.
To avoid this, it is desirable to sew the elastic cord 1 to the towel cloth 5.
However, if the elastic cord 1 is sewn to the towel cloth 5 at a place where the towel cloth 5 overlaps, the towel cloth 5 cannot be pulled and stretched, so when sewing the elastic cord 1 to the towel cloth 5, it is better to avoid the place where the shrunken towel cloth 5 overlaps.

The end of the elastic cord 1 can be cut off since it is no longer needed after sewing.
The unnecessary end of the elastic cord 1 can be made into a loop without cutting off the end from the sewn part, and in this case, the looped part can be hung on a hook or the like and the towel cloth 5 can be used by hanging it.

FIG. 6 is a cross-sectional view clearly showing the sewing position when sewing the winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2 to the towel cloth 5.
The wings 4 extending from the bag 3 that houses the elastic cord 1 are sewn to the towel cloth 5 at the dotted line position, and if the base point of the wings 4 near where they extend from the bag 3 is 0% and the area up to the edge is 100%, then it is ideal to sew them to the towel cloth 5 between near 0% and near 50%. This can be applied between Figures 1 to 11.

FIG. 7 is a cross-sectional view clearly showing the sewing position when the winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2, in which the bag-shaped body 3 for storing the elastic cord 1 is made of two pieces of fabric 6 stacked vertically, is sewn to the towel cloth 5.
First, two pieces of fabric 6 stacked vertically are sewn together at the dotted line position near the elastic string 1 to form a bag-like body 3, and then, from above the wing-like body 4 extending from the bag-like body 3, the towel cloth 5 is sewn to the outer dotted line position.
In addition, when sewing the two pieces of fabric 6 at the dotted line position near the elastic band 1, the bag-like body 3 can be formed by sewing only the two pieces of fabric 6 stacked vertically together, or the two pieces of fabric 6 stacked vertically together with the towel cloth 5 so that the bag-like body 3 is formed when sewn to the towel cloth 5.

FIG. 8 is a cross-sectional view clearly showing the sewing position when a winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2, in which a bag-like body 3 for storing an elastic cord 1 is made of a bag-like fabric 6 with both cylindrical ends open, is sewn to a towel cloth 5.
First, a bag-like fabric 6 is sewn at the position of the dotted line near the elastic string 1 to form a bag-like body 3, and then the feather-like body 4 extending from the bag-like body 3 is sewn to a towel cloth 5 at the position of the outer dotted line from above.
The bag-shaped fabric 6 can be sewn at the dotted line position near the elastic band 1 to form the bag-shaped body 3, or the bag-shaped fabric 6 can be sewn together with the towel cloth 5 so that the bag-shaped body 3 is formed when sewn to the towel cloth 5.

FIG. 9 is a cross-sectional view clearly showing the sewing position when the winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2, in which the bag-shaped body 3 for storing the elastic cord 1 is made of a single piece of fabric 6, is sewn to the towel cloth 5.
First, an elastic cord 1 is placed on a piece of fabric 6, and then one side of fabric 6 (the right side in Figure 9) is folded over the elastic cord 1 around the center so that it overlaps the elastic cord 1, and is sewn to the elastic cord 1 at the dotted line position near the elastic cord 1 to form a bag-like body 3. After that, one end of the bag-like body 3 (the right end in Figure 9) and the wing-like body 4 extending from the bag-like body 3 are sewn to the towel cloth 5 at the outer dotted line position (the left end in Figure 9).

The folded fabric 6 can be sewn at the dotted line position near the elastic band 1 to form the bag-like body 3, or the folded fabric 6 can be sewn together with the towel cloth 5 so that the bag-like body 3 is formed when sewn to the towel cloth 5.
However, this embodiment is an example of a winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2 in which the wing-shaped body 4 is formed on only one side.
Alternatively, a strip of fabric 6 may first be placed on the toweling 5, and when the fabric is in an unfolded, flat state, approximately half of the strip width of fabric 6 may be sewn in a straight line in the longitudinal direction of toweling 5, and then elastic cord 1 may be placed on top of fabric 6 so that it overlaps with fabric 6, and the fabric may be folded near the sewing thread of fabric 6 as described above, and then sewn in a straight line in the longitudinal direction of toweling 5 near elastic cord 1 on the left side of Figure 9 to form a strip of fabric 6. As another example, a strip of fabric 6 approximately 20 mm (2 cm) wide may be sewn in a straight line in the longitudinal direction of toweling 5 to approximately 5 mm, and then elastic cord 1 may be placed on toweling 5 and folded while being pressed down by fabric 6, and elastic cord 1 may be sandwiched between toweling 5 and fabric 6, and then sewn in a straight line in the longitudinal direction of toweling 5 near elastic cord 1 on the left side as shown in Figure 9 to form a strip of fabric 3.

Figure 10 is a cross-sectional view showing the sewing position of the winged elastic cord storage cylindrical body 2 when the bag-shaped body 3 for storing the elastic cord 1 is made of a single piece of fabric 6 and is sewn to a towel cloth 5 to form the winged elastic cord storage cylindrical body 2.
First, the elastic cord 1 is placed on the towel cloth 5, and then the fabric 6 is placed on top and sewn at the dotted line position near the elastic cord 1, thereby making the bag-like body 3.
For the fabric 6, cotton bias tape is preferred as it is stretchy and gentle on the skin, but gauze can also be used.

The excess portion of the fabric 6 extending from the sewn position in the left and right directions in FIG. 10 is the wings 4, and the wings 4 when sewn to the towel cloth 5 have a small flare shape.
Furthermore, the winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2 can be further sewn to the towel cloth 5 at a position near the middle of the edge of the wing-like body 4 and the position where it is sewn to the towel cloth 5, thereby making it more stable.
The flared wing-like body 4 serves to prevent the stiff sewn-in parts from coming into direct contact with the skin.

Figure 11 is a cross-sectional view showing the sewing position of the winged elastic cord storage cylindrical body 2 when the bag-shaped body 3 for storing the elastic cord 1 is made of a single piece of fabric 6 and is sewn to a towel cloth 5 to form the winged elastic cord storage cylindrical body 2.
First, the elastic cord 1 is placed on the towel cloth 5, and then the fabric 6 is placed on top and sewn at the dotted line position near the elastic cord 1 to form the bag-like body 3.
Then, the excess fabric 6 extending outward from the bag-like body 3 is made into a wing-like body 4, and is sewn onto the towel cloth 5 from above the wing-like body 4 at the outer dotted line position.

In the embodiment shown in Figs. 1 to 11, the elastic cord 1 can be passed through after the winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2 and the bag-like body 3 are completed.
Furthermore, the longitudinal length of the winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2 and bag-like body 3 in the embodiments shown in Figures 1 to 11 is about 1 m, the same as the toweling material 5 to which it is sewn, but to increase production efficiency, they can be made longer, and can be made to any length.
Furthermore, the winged elastic cord housing cylinder 2 and the bag-like body 3 in the embodiments shown in Figs. 1 to 11 may be made of a mesh.

The sewn portions of these winged elastic cord storage cylinders 2 to the towel cloth 5 can be adhered to a part, the whole surface or the back surface using glue, adhesive or adhesive tape, or can be vapor-deposited with an adhesive.
By adhering in advance, it is possible to prevent the position of the winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2 from shifting when sewing the winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2 and the bag-like body 3 to the towel cloth 5, and since this purpose can be temporary, a water-soluble adhesive is preferable, and if it is likely to come off, temporary sewing is also acceptable.
This bonding can also be applied to bonding elastic cords 1, towel cloth 5 for the cords, and the cylindrical body 2 for storing elastic cords with wings.
Furthermore, when sewing the winged elastic string storage cylinder 2 and the bag-like body 3 to the towel cloth 5, they can be sewn together in one go with the needles fastened.
This sewing may be performed by simply pressing down the fabric without using needle clamps, but it may also be performed by pressing down the fabric in addition to using needle clamps.
If the needle clamp and press down can be released immediately after sewing and the process can be repeated, sewing efficiency will be improved.
Ideally, the wing-like body 4 extending from the sewing thread 7 of the winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2 should be sewn to the towel cloth 5 between the vicinity of the sewing thread 7 of the wing-like body 4 and approximately halfway to the edge of the wing-like body 4.

FIG. 12 is a side view of the towel cloth 5 as seen from the longitudinal side after the winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2 for storing the elastic cord 1 has been sewn on, showing the state in which the towel cloth 5 has shrunk like an accordion and the ends of the long sides of the towel cloth 5 have flared shapes.
The towel cloth 5 is accordion-shaped and can be shrunk to about two-thirds of its original length.
The flare shape of the towel cloth 5 becomes small when the winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2 is sewn in at a position close to the edge of the towel cloth 5, and becomes large when the winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2 is sewn in at a position far from the edge of the towel cloth 5.
Furthermore, the flare formed in the winged rubber string storage cylinder 2 becomes larger as the length of the wing-like body 4 extending from the sewing thread 7 becomes longer, and becomes smaller as the length of the wing-like body 4 extending from the sewing thread 7 becomes shorter.

FIG. 13 is a top perspective view of the towel cloth 5 after the winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2 of FIG. 12 containing the elastic cord 1 has been sewn onto it.
In this drawing, the edges of the long sides of the towel cloth 5 are shown flared, but the sewing thread of the winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2 and the flared wings 4 are omitted.
By sewing the winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2 to the towel cloth 5, the towel cloth 5 becomes accordion-shaped and the towel cloth 5 is shrunk to about two-thirds of its original length.
In the embodiment shown in the drawings, the sewing thread 7 is omitted.
3, 5 and 13 show an embodiment in which the winged elastic cord storage cylinders 2 are sewn in three parallel rows, but it is sufficient to sew them in one or more rows, or even five rows, and there is no restriction, and they do not have to be parallel.

Figure 14 is a diagram showing the sewing location of the towel cloth 5 after the winged elastic cord storage cylindrical body 2 of Figure 13 containing the elastic cord 1 has been sewn onto it, and is a rear (back) view showing the back side of the towel cloth 5 onto which the winged elastic cord storage cylindrical body 2 has been sewn onto it.
The stitching points are indicated by dotted lines.
In particular, in Figure 14, the elastic cord 1 stored in the winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2 is sewn to the towel cloth 5 not only at both the left and right ends of the towel cloth 5 but also at three points between them, but it is not necessary to sew between the left and right ends, or it may be sewn in any number of places, and the sewing locations can be selected as desired.
This prevents the towel cloth 5 from repeatedly expanding and contracting, resulting in the towel cloth 5 not being distributed evenly around the elastic cord 1 but gathering in one place, making it difficult to use.

15 and 16 are rear (back) views showing the reverse side of the towel cloth 5, illustrating an example of the stitching after the winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2 has been sewn in.
The solid zigzag lines drawn horizontally in the drawing indicate seams, and by using thread or elastic cord 1 of the same color as towel fabric 5, the seams can be made less noticeable.
A winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2 containing an elastic cord 1 is placed on the towel cloth 5, and the towel cloth 5 is sewn in a zigzag pattern from above the winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2 containing the elastic cord 1 so as not to hinder the expansion and contraction of the elastic cord 1, thereby fixing the winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2 containing the elastic cord 1 to the towel cloth 5.
The elastic cord 1 stored in the winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2 is sewn in a zigzag pattern so as to straddle the winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2 storing the elastic cord 1, so that the elastic cord 1 stored in the winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2 expands and contracts in accordance with the expansion and contraction of the towel cloth 5.

Furthermore, when zigzag stitching is used on terry cloth, the winged tips of the folded seams can fray, come off, or become distorted. To prevent this, the zigzag seams and the winged tips of the folded seams can be reinforced by stitching in a straight line, as shown by the dotted lines drawn to the left and right of the winged elastic cord storage tube 2 closer to the tips of the folded seams of the zigzag seams in Figure 16. There are no restrictions on the method of stitching used for reinforcement.

As described above, the winged elastic cord storage cylinder of the present invention can easily shrink the towel cloth into an accordion-like shape, thereby creating a towel cloth with increased mass and volume.
This toweling material is easy to use even when it is about half to one-third the length of a regular towel, and is suitable for small towels with a luxurious image.

The winged elastic cord storage cylinder of the present invention can be used in combination with a webbing, flat elastic, stretchable band, elastic cord 1, etc. to give the towel cloth a shrunk shape (a state in which the shrunk and folded cross section has an S-shape, Z-shape, or accordion-like shape), but it is also possible to select only one of them.
In addition, when it comes to sewing to secure the towel to the fabric, various stitches such as straight stitches, zigzag stitches, and wavy stitches can be used in combination.
For example, when sewing the winged elastic cord storage cylinder 2 of the present invention in three rows, the toweling fabric can be formed into an S- or Z-shape by using a strip of fabric in the center and stitching on the left and right, or by using a flat elastic band in the center and elastic bands on the left and right, and the fixing for holding the toweling fabric can be made more practical by using the above materials and sewing.
