Abstract
PURPOSE: To simplify the structure of a shield plate and to render the operation of a liquid fuel combustor reliable, by providing the shield plate above a drive disk for moving a wick in vertical direction in the manner that it can be expanded and contracted radially inwards, and fixing a driven shaft at one end of the shield plate and inserting the same into an elongated hole formed in the drive disk in a circumferential direction so that the drive disk and th shield plate are interlocked to each other.
CONSTITUTION: When a control dial is turned to the right, a drive disk 29 is also turned to the right by the aid of a rack 36, so that a drive shaft 20 is moved along elongated holes 14, 15, 28 formed respectively in auxiliray guide plates 12, 13 and a guide plate 5 by an enlarged portion a of an elongated hole 30 formed in the drive disk 29. This causes horizontal movement of a shield plate 16 and movement of a driven shaft 21 fixed at a finely movable end 17 radially in small elongated holes 22, 23, so that a passage of a wick 7 in which the wick 7 is moved vertically is closed. On the other hand, when the control dial is turned in a flame extinguishing direction, the above-mentioned parts are moved reversely, so that the wick 7 is moved downward and the passage of the wick 7 is closed by the shield plate 16. That is, the upper surface of the wick 7 is covered by small pieces 25 of the shield plate 16, so the flame is extinguished completely. With such an arrangement, it is enabled to simplify the structure of the shield plate and to extinguish flame in a reliable manner.
