For this reason, the mast was heavy and inconvenient to handle. In addition, masts are usually extruded to have uniform dimensions in the axial direction, but from the standpoint of strength, it is not necessary to make them uniform in size; It is preferable to reduce dimensions such as the outer diameter and thickness in order to reduce the overall weight and also from the viewpoint of flexing when the sail is exposed to the wind. However, such machining is difficult with metal, and if a light material other than metal is used, there is a drawback that the strength of the part of the mast support part that is subjected to concentrated loads is insufficient. This invention was made to solve these conventional drawbacks, and the mast is made of carbon fiber-reinforced plastic, and the areas subject to concentrated loads are appropriately reinforced to compensate for the lack of strength. This made the mast lighter.

In other words, in this invention, a mast whose lower part is fitted into a mast hole formed in a deck is made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic, and the outer periphery of the mast is formed between the upper end of the mast hole and the mast at the corresponding position. A cylindrical protective member made of a material stronger than the mast is interposed to cover the mast. Hereinafter, this invention will be referred to as carbon fiber reinforced plastic (
An embodiment applied to a ship made of FRP (hereinafter referred to as FRP) will be described with reference to the drawings.

The lower end of the hole 11 is glued with a filling material 6 such as Missy Matushi with a nail, and is connected to the bottom of the ship with an FRP covering material 7 so as to cover the outside thereof. The mast 3 is made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic, and a reinforcing ring 8 is attached to the outer periphery of the mast at a position corresponding to the upper end of the mast hole 11.

This reinforcing ring 8 is made of, for example, an aluminum pipe, and an epoxy resin adhesive 81 is filled between the inner surface of the reinforcing ring 8 and the outer surface of the mast 3 to completely adhere the two. By adhering the entire surface in this manner, the external force applied from the upper end of the hole 11 is transmitted to the mast through the entire surface of the reinforcing ring 8, thereby preventing localized concentrated loads from being applied to the mast. A protrusion 80 is formed on the reinforcing ring 8 and serves to hold the end of the lobe attached to the boom 4. As shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, a mounting member 41 is attached to the mast 3 at an appropriate position, and the end of the boom 4 is connected to the mounting member 41.

This mounting member 41 is also divided into left and right halves so as to contact the outer circumferential surface of the mast 3 over a wide area, and is constructed so that both parts are tightened and fixed together by the boom's mounting bolts 42. Therefore, the contact length of the mounting member 41 in the mast circumferential direction increases,
The attachment member 41 is geometrically engaged with the mast, and the interval between the attachment screws to the mast can be increased, thereby reducing the reduction in mast strength that occurs when the attachment member 41 is attached to the mast. Furthermore, there is also the advantage of increasing the bonding area. Although the upper part of the mast 3 is not shown, it may be formed integrally with carbon fiber reinforced plastic like the lower part, or it may be continuous at the middle part. In this configuration, the entire mast is made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic, so the mast itself is extremely lightweight and easy to handle.

Also, when the sail is exposed to the wind, a bending moment is applied to the mast 3, and this force is applied to the upper end of the hole 11 and
It is applied to the mast 3 as a supporting force at two locations at the lower end of 1. In particular, the maximum force acts on the upper end of the hole 11, but since this force acts on the mast 3 from the entire surface through the reinforcing ring 8, the local strength is sufficient to withstand even a material weaker than metal. is completed. Ru. The lower end of the mast 3 may be appropriately reinforced by fitting an appropriate reinforcing ring or inserting a reinforcing member inside. Furthermore, the mast 3 may be formed so that it becomes gradually thinner toward the upper end so that the amount of material required is minimal. Such processing can also be carried out freely in the case of carbon fiber reinforced plastics. Although this embodiment shows a reinforcing ring attached to the outer periphery of the mast as a cylindrical protective member, a protective member made of elasticity such as rubber is attached to the inner peripheral surface of the upper edge of the mast hole. It may be interposed between. Furthermore, when a rigid and straight cylindrical protection member is attached to the mast as in this example, the direction of the mast on the deck surface becomes nearly vertical, ensuring that the center of wind action on the sail is close to the ship. Easy to maneuver.
As explained above, in the present invention, the mast is constructed of carbon fiber reinforced plastic, and appropriate reinforcing members are attached to the deck portion to which concentrated loads are applied to disperse stress.

This makes it possible to use materials other than metal, which was previously thought to be impossible, making the mast lighter and easier to handle. It also allows for greater freedom in the shape of the mast, allowing it to adapt to the wind force that the sail receives. It also became possible to make the mast flex appropriately.
