More specifically, the present invention relates to a nematic liquid crystal composition that has a wide temperature range and is extremely stable. 2. Description of the Related Art In recent years, advances in electronics and other technologies have created a need for low-voltage drive, low-power consumption, and inexpensive display bodies. Display bodies using liquid crystals are currently seen as promising displays that meet this requirement, and have already been put into practical use in some cases. The above-mentioned liquid crystal is an organic compound, and while ordinary compounds change phase from solid phase to liquid phase to gas phase, liquid crystal has a phase that has both solid and liquid properties between solid phase and liquid phase. show. Due to differences in molecular arrangement, three phases have been found that are unique to liquid crystals: a cholesteric phase, a smectic phase, and a nematic phase, and are called cholesteric liquid crystal, smectic liquid crystal, and nematic liquid crystal, respectively. Currently, nematic liquid crystals are used as display materials, and two types of display methods are generally widely used: a light scattering method and a field effect method. In particular, the latter field-effect display method consumes less power than the former light scattering display method.
It also has the advantage of low driving voltage. The nematic liquid crystal composition according to the present invention is used in a field effect type display. Conventional liquid crystal materials have the following drawbacks.

Since liquid crystals are originally organic substances, they inevitably deteriorate and decompose under various environments. -C-N- For example, a liquid crystal (hereinafter abbreviated as Schiff liquid crystal) having a molecular structure such as l (Schiff base and base) in its molecule,

However, this liquid crystal was extremely sensitive to moisture and easily deteriorated. Furthermore, since it cannot be handled indoors with high humidity, consideration must be given to working in a device that has been specially designed to remove moisture. On the other hand, it has -↓-N (azoxy group) in the molecule, which is quite resistant to humidity and easy to handle.
Liquid crystals with a ○ molecular structure (hereinafter referred to as azoxy liquid crystals) were also used, but because this liquid crystal has a unique color, it is sensitive to visible light, ultraviolet rays near visible light, and shorter wavelengths. Due to the absorption of light, azoxy liquid crystals deteriorate due to the absorbed light.

To prevent this, it was necessary to protect the azoxy liquid crystal by covering the front of the display with a filter that does not absorb light. This has the disadvantage that the entire display becomes dark, impairing visibility. The present invention can provide a liquid crystal that does not have such drawbacks. The liquid crystal according to the present invention is white and has the same strength against moisture as the above-mentioned Azoxy liquid crystal. The liquid crystal according to the present invention will be explained below.

Also, since this liquid crystal absorbs ultraviolet rays below a certain wavelength and visible light close to ultraviolet, it is filtered in the same way as azoxy liquid crystal, but this filter is almost colorless and transparent, so visibility is not impaired. The present invention is based on the discovery that by mixing the seven types of nematic liquid crystals shown in Table 1, a nematic liquid crystal composition having excellent properties can be obtained.
