The present invention relates to an odorant for fuel gas. More specifically, the present invention relates to a fuel gas odorant containing the compound R-SH (where R is an unsaturated hydrocarbon group having 3 to 5 carbon atoms) as an essential component. As an odorant for fuel gas, for the purpose of preventing dangers such as gas explosion accidents and gas poisoning due to gas leaks,
It is desirable to use a substance that has an odor that will immediately draw the attention of people nearby even if the amount of gas leaking is small. Furthermore, in order to fully demonstrate its function as an odorant, it is necessary that the odor quality is a warning odor and that it is recognized at an extremely low concentration. Ethyl mercaptan is a commonly used odorant, but it cannot be said to be a satisfactory odorant because it immediately reminds people of gas leaks. Also, the cognitive concentration is 30
At around γ/ m3 , the odor effect will not appear unless it is added at around 30 ppm to the liquefied petroleum gas. The present inventor aimed to develop an odorant that has a gas odor and can be recognized at an extremely low concentration.
As a result of intensive studies on various compounds, we found that the compound R-SH (where R is an unsaturated hydrocarbon group with 3 to 5 carbon atoms) has an extremely strong gas odor, which can be recognized at extremely low concentrations. This discovery led to the present invention. That is, mercaptans conventionally used as odorants lack the sharp warning odor that odorants should have, and their perceived concentration is about 10 to 30 γ/m 3 . In comparison, the perceived concentration of the mercaptan according to the present invention is 1
It has an extremely low concentration of γ/m 3 and has a sharp warning odor that immediately reminds you of a gas leak. The perceived concentration here refers to the strength of the odor, which is determined by diluting the specified odorant substance with air in an odor-free room, using the six-level odor display method shown in Table (1), by a panel of six trained people. It is expressed as the odorant concentration in the odorless room where .

[Table] Figure 1 shows the test results conducted to clarify the odor intensity of the odorant in the present invention. Figure-1
The vertical axis in the middle shows the average odor intensity of the six panelists, and the horizontal axis shows the odorant concentration in the odorless room. The solid line A in the graph represents the relationship between the indoor concentration of allyl mercaptan B, ethyl mercaptan C, and t-butyl mercaptan and the corresponding odor intensity. As can be seen from this graph, allyl mercaptan is ethyl mercaptan, t-
It can be seen that it is recognized at lower concentrations than butyl mercaptan. The mercaptans according to the invention can be used alone or in any mixture of conventional mercaptans, sulfides or other odorant substances. Examples are shown below, but the present invention is not limited only to the examples. Example (1) n to 50 parts of allyl mercaptan by weight
- Use 50 parts of hexane and mix to obtain a product.
This product was added at a ratio of 0.01g to 1Kg of LPG. When we conducted an odor test with this gas diluted 200 times with air, we detected a strong gas odor. Example (2) 2-butene-1-thiol is 30 parts, ethyl acetate is 20 parts, and n-hexane is 50 parts by weight.
Mix and stir to form a product. this product
It was added at a rate of 0.01g per 1kg of LPG. When we conducted an odor test with this gas diluted 200 times with air, we detected a strong gas odor.
