【発明の詳細な説明】[Detailed description of the invention]

この発明は、流体機器の軸封部(スタフイング
ボツクス)内に複数個収容されたグランドパツキ
ンの抜出しを容易になさしめるグランドパツキン
の抜出し方法に関するものである。従来、スタフ
イングボツクス内に収容されて用いられるグラン
ドパツキンとしては、例えば、グラフオイル(米
国、ユニオンカーバイド社の商品名)等で知られ
ている膨張黒鉛のみからなるものは知られてお
り、バルブ、ポンプ等のフタフイングボツクス
内、即ち、軸と機器ケーシングとで形成される室
内に複数個詰め込まれ、流体が機外に洩れるのを
防止している。そしてこのようなグランドパツキ
ンは、柔軟性と黒鉛がもつ本来の特性等を活用で
きるので、比較的優れたものである。しかしなが
ら、やや崩れやすいこともあり、スタフイングボ
ツクス内への装填の際、取扱に注意を要するとい
う欠点や、特に定期点検や補修等の如く、使用後
の取替えに際し、この種のグランドパツキンをス
タフイングボツクスから抜出すときは、非常に困
難な作業を招くという欠点があつた。つまり、こ
の種のグランドパツキンは、一定の締付圧力で詰
め込れていた為スタフイングボツクス内で強固に
保持されていたり、焼付等による固着現象が加わ
つた場合、狭い室であるスタフイングボツクス内
から複数個のグランドパツキンを抜出すことは、
さらに困難な作業を招ねいていた。 例えば、従来周知の引掻き棒のような銛状のパ
ツキン抜出用具(丁度先端部分が銛状となつたパ
ツキン抜出用具)を用いたとしても、この種のグ
ランドパツキンが崩壊し、崩れた一部分を個々に
抜出してゆく作業となる。なお、フタフイングボ
ツクスに詰め込まれたグランドパツキンは、前述
の如く、膨張黒鉛やゴム等からなる成形タイプ
(無編組型)のパツキンのみが抜出し作業に困難
を与えていたのでなく、石綿やテフロン等の有機
繊維からなる一般の編組型グランドパツキンにつ
いても多かれ少なかれ抜出し作業に対し、手間を
必要としめんどうであつた。 この発明は、このような事情に鑑みなされたも
ので、スタフイングボツクス内に複数個収容さ
れ、押え板にて締め込まれたグランドパツキンを
スタフイングボツクス外へ極めて簡便に抜出し得
る方法を提供するもので、しかもグランドパツキ
ンとしては、膨張黒鉛のもつ特性をそのまま生か
しつつ、優れたパツキン性能をそのまま具備させ
つつ抜出しを容易にせしめる方法を提供するもの
である。 即ち、この発明は、スタフイングボツクス内に
複数個収容され、押え板にて締め込まれるグラン
ドパツキンの抜出し方法において、グランドパツ
キンを円周方向の1ケ所に切断された合口を有し
た膨張黒鉛を主体とするリング体になし、このリ
ング体の内部に金属網を径方向に体して離間した
層状となしかつ全円周に配置せしめた構成となす
ことによつて、従来周知のパツキン抜出用具の銛
状先端部分を該グランドパツキン内に突入させ、
グランドパツキン内部に配置した金属網に結合さ
れることによつて、スタフイングボツクス内に複
数個収容されたグランドパツキンの抜出しを容易
にならしめたことを要旨とするグランドパツキン
の抜出し方法である。 以下に、この発明を実施例図に基づき、詳細に
説明する。 第1図は、本発明の抜出し方法に欠くことの出
来ないグランドパツキンAの斜視図を示す。この
グランドパツキンAは、膨張黒鉛1と金属網2と
からなるものであり、例えば、第2図で示すよう
に厚サ0.25mm、幅1.27mmの膨張黒鉛テープ3の一
側面に、その膨張黒鉛テープ3よりもやや幅の狭
い、例えば幅8mmに切断した0.1mm径の金属細線
をニツト編した金属網2を重ね合せてなる複合テ
ープ素材4を用意し、そしてこの複合テープ素材
4をうず巻状に複数回、適宜巻込み、ついでこの
ような状態にした複合テープ素材4を成形金型
(図示せず)にて、厚み方向および幅方向に圧縮
して、リング状に成形したものである。従つて、
得られたグランドパツキンA自体は、膨張黒鉛1
を主体とするリング体に、このリング体の内部に
金属網2が径方向に対して離間した層状に配され
ており、かつ全円周に配置された構成のものとな
り、そしてこの後、円周方向の1ケ所を切断する
ことによつて、切断された合口を具備させた構成
にしている。そして、第3図で示すように、前述
したグランドパツキンAが軸5と機器ケーシング
6とで形成される室(スタフイングボツクス)内
に複数個収容され、破線で示すパツキン押え板7
によつて締め込まれていたグランドパツキンAを
抜出す場合に、パツキン抜出用具8の銛状先端部
8′をグランドパツキンA内に突入させ、グラン
ドパツキンAの内部に配置した金属網2に係合絡
み込ませ、パツキン抜出用具8を引張ることによ
り、スタフイングボツクスからグランドパツキン
Aを一挙にかつ容易に抜出すことのできる抜出し
方法である。 因みに、この発明に係る方法を採れば如何に短
時間で抜出し作業が可能になるのかを次の実験例
で示す。 実験例 ウツエバルブ製の1500lb、1/2Bの緞鋼製グロ
ーブ弁を用い、パツキン寸法:14×33×9.5t×
10Rのものにて、スタフイングボツクス内へ次の
計10リングのグランドパツキンを収容し、一旦締
付けた後に抜出し所要時間を測定した結果を下表
に示す。
