うにしてある。すなわち、上記識別記号は例えば
英文字と数字によつて構成される番号からなり、
端栓刻印ヘツド9から照射されるレーザビームを
外部から上記端栓刻印ヘツド9に送られる信号に
よつてコントロールすることにより刻印が行なわ

以上説明したように、本発明は前述の如き構成
によつて、溶接チヤンバー内にある端栓にレーザ
光を照射することによつて識別記号を刻印するよ
うにしたので、識別記号の刻印を端栓溶接工程と
同一工程で行なうことができ、従来に比べ核燃料
棒製造工程を一つだけ削減することができる。ま
た端栓溶接工程前には端栓に識別記号が刻印され
ていないので、端栓溶接工程以前の工程において
端栓の個々の識別管理が不要となり、核燃料棒製
造コスト低減を図ることができる。また、レーザ
光によつて識別記号を刻印するので、刻印に際し
て端栓に衝撃を与えるようなことがなく、刻印の
深さもレーザ光の調節によつて自由に調整するこ
とができる。しかも、端栓溶接用のレーザ光源と
端栓刻印用のレーザ光源を前記実施例のように共
用した場合には、装置費の低減効果をも得ること
ができる。

ーの被覆管挿入用開口が穿設された側壁と直交す
る壁部に、被覆管の開口端部に装着された端栓位
置に対応してレーザ光導入用窓を設けるととも
に、上記溶接チヤンバーの外側部に、レーザ光発
生装置、およびそのレーザ光発生装置で発生され
たレーザ光をレーザ光導入用窓を経て端栓外表面
に照射し、その端栓外周面に識別記号を刻印する
端栓刻印ヘツドを設けたことを特徴とする、核燃
料棒溶接装置。 2 レーザ光発生装置は端栓刻印ヘツドとともに
端栓溶接ヘツドにレーザ光を伝送するように構成
されていることを特徴とする、特許請求の範囲第
