Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a molding which can be adhesive fixed to the car body by pressing the molding from its top with a roll and the like. CONSTITUTION:A molding 1 has a hollow part 2 with the side part 3 having a think wall of about same thickness as a top part 4, a pressure conves part 6 with a triangle cross section being formed from a bottom part 7 to the top part 4 forming a void 5 between the part 6 and the side part 3, a think wall rib 8 connecting said convex part 6 and the top part 4. An adhesive layer 10 consisting of a dual face adhesive tape is provided on the bottom of the molding proper thereby enabling reliable bond fixing of the molding to the car body via said adhesive tape by pressing the molding proper from its top side with a roll and the like.

In recent years, there has been a trend toward larger sizes (that is, wider widths), and the weight of the entire mall is increasing. For this reason, stronger and more reliable adhesion between the molding and the vehicle body sheet metal (substrate) is required than ever before.

Generally, the adhesive layer formed on the bottom of the molding is made of double-sided adhesive tape, and in order to obtain strong and reliable adhesion to the car body sheet metal, the pressure of the adhesive layer against the car body sheet metal (car body It is desirable that the surface pressure distribution from the sheet metal to the adhesive layer be as uniform as possible.

At this time, if the molding is manually pressed against the car body sheet metal, the above-mentioned surface pressure distribution will be uniform and a good adhesion state can be obtained, but in general, from the viewpoint of workability, the molding is mechanically pressed with a presser roll and the car body is pressed against the molding by hand. It is stuck to the sheet metal. Further, since the molding is bonded to the R portion of the vehicle body sheet metal, the rigidity cannot be increased very much, and therefore it is manufactured from a polymeric material such as semi-rigid synthetic resin or rubber.

Therefore, in order to fix the molding body 20, which has a hollow part 21 as shown in FIG. Upper part 2 with presser roll B
If you press 4, initially as shown in Figure 9,
Since the upper surface portion 24 of the molding body is bent, the side portions 25 of the molding body are pulled, and the side edges of the bottom portion 22 are lifted up. At the time when the pressing is completed, as shown in FIG. 10, the raised side edge of the bottom part 22 also comes into contact with the vehicle body sheet metal A, but the surface pressure distribution on the adhesive layer 23 has a sharp edge as shown in the figure. It becomes like this.

Therefore, the surface pressure distribution on the adhesive layer 23 becomes extremely localized, and it is difficult to obtain a strong and reliable adhesive state between the molding body 20 and the vehicle body sheet metal A.

The gist of this invention is that a molding body made of a polymeric material and having a hollow part or filled with a soft foam is fixed to an adherend through an adhesive layer formed on both sides of the bottom of the molding body. In a wide molding, the side part of the molding body extends from the top part with approximately the same thickness, and the presser convex part is oriented from the bottom part to the top part so as to form a gap between the side part and the side part. The molding has a thin rib which is formed to have a tapering cross section and which can be bent and deformed when a pressing force is applied between the presser convex part and the upper surface part.

FIG. 1 shows an embodiment of the invention. The molding main body 1 is provided with a hollow part 2 as in the conventional type, and a side part 3 of the main body extends from an upper surface part 4 with substantially the same thickness, and a gap 5 is formed between the side part 2 and the side part 2. A presser foot convex portion 6 having a triangular cross section is formed from the bottom portion 7 toward the upper surface portion 4, and the presser foot convex portion 6 and the upper surface portion 4 are connected by a thin rib 8.

The thin ribs 8 improve the shape stability of the molding body 1, so that the upper surface of the molding body 1 can be made thinner, which in turn leads to a reduction in the weight of the molding. Moreover, at this time, even if the thin rib 8 is not connected to both the upper surface part 4 and the presser convex part 6 as shown in the example,
One end may just be in contact instead of being connected.
In particular, when the upper surface part 4 and the thin rib 8 are not connected, there is no possibility that sink marks will occur in the region of the upper surface part 4 where the thin rib 8 is formed.

Initially, as shown in FIG. 4, the pressing force from the presser roll B easily bends the top surface 4 and the side portions 3 because the side portion 3 is thin and has approximately the same thickness as the top surface, and the bottom side edge Since it is transmitted to the portion 7a, the bottom side end portion 7a does not rise.

At the time when the pressing is completed, as shown in FIG. 5, the thin rib 8 is buckled (bending deformation) due to the pressing force from the presser roll B acting on the upper surface part 4, and the upper surface part 4 and the presser convex part 6 are in contact with each other. The pressing force applied to the upper surface portion 4 acts substantially uniformly on the adhesive layer 10 on the lower surface of the presser convex portion 6. In other words, the surface pressure distribution on the adhesive layer 10 is approximately uniform, that is, trapezoidal, as shown in the figure.
The adhesive layer 10 creates a strong and reliable bond between the molding body 1 and the vehicle body sheet metal A.

In addition, in FIGS. 6 and 7, the convex portion 6 is pressed against the adhesive layer 10.
This is a surface pressure distribution diagram when it is formed only on the lower surface of
FIG. 6 shows the state at the beginning of pressing, and FIG. 7 shows the state at the end of pressing. In this case, as in the above case, a substantially uniform surface pressure distribution is generated in the adhesive layer 10 on the lower surface of the presser convex portion 6, and the adhesive layer 10 maintains a strong and reliable bond between the molding body 1 and the vehicle body. It is created between sheet metal A.

In this case, the action of the presser roll during fixing work is the same as in the case of FIG. 1, but the presser convex portion 6A
Since this part has greater rigidity than other parts, the pressing force acts more effectively on the adhesive layer as a pressing force than in the case of FIG. 1, and a larger adhesive force can be obtained.

serves to improve the shape stability of the molding body 1, and may be partially filled.

FIG. 3 shows still another embodiment of the invention,
In the molding main body 1B, the presser convex portion 6B has a semicircular cross section in the molding shown in FIG. 1, and thin ribs 8 are provided so that the upper part thereof is inclined outward. In this case, the action of the presser roll during fixing work is the same as in the case of FIG.
Compared to the embodiment shown in FIG. 2, it is easier to bend and deform.

This invention provides a wide molding body in which a molding body made of a polymeric material and having a hollow part or filled with a soft foam is fixed to an adherend via an adhesive layer formed on both sides of the bottom part of the molding body. When fixing a molding to an adherend by pressing it with a roll or the like from the upper surface of the molding body, the pressing force from the presser roll is easily applied to the upper surface because the side portions are thin and have approximately the same thickness as the top surface. The deflection is transmitted to the bottom side edge. Therefore, the bottom end of the molding body does not lift up as in the conventional molding body, and a strong and reliable adhesive state can be obtained between the molding body and the adherend. A strong and reliable adhesive state can be obtained between the main body and the adherend.
