The present invention relates to a facsimile device that communicates image signals. Facsimile machines are classified into high-speed machines, medium-speed machines, etc. in order of the shortest time required for transmission. For example, in medium-speed facsimile machines, CCITT
There is a G standard established by the International Telegraph and Telephone Advisory Committee (International Telegraph and Telephone Advisory Committee). The G standard specifies that the size of the original or recording paper to be sent and received is A4. but,
In addition to A4 size manuscripts, larger B4 size manuscripts are also frequently used in practice. However, for the reasons mentioned above, B4 size manuscripts cannot be used in the G standard. Furthermore, some conventional facsimile devices are capable of automatically receiving images without requiring a human to operate the facsimile receiver. In this case, even if an image is transmitted from the facsimile transmitter side, a person near the receiver side may not notice that the image has been received. Therefore, even if the sender sends a document that requires an urgent response, the recipient will ignore it. This is because when the receiver is in the automatic reception state, the transmitter cannot call the recipient (pre-call). In addition, if you want to notify the status of the received image over the phone after sending and receiving image information, you must take off the receiver to avoid disconnecting the line when the image transmission is finished, and make a reservation for the phone call. (This is strange from a common sense point of view, but calls can actually be made only after the image transmission has finished, which is several minutes later.) Therefore, it actually happens that people forget to make a call during that time and leave the receiver unattended.) Figure 1a shows the tonal signal output from the transceiver in the G standard. be. In Figures 1a to d, lines L move downward in the figure to represent the passage of time, the left side of line L represents the tonal signal output from the transmitter side, and the right side of line L represents the tonal signal output from the receiver side. Hereinafter, this embodiment of the present invention will be explained using the drawings. FIG. 1b is a chart showing the contents of tonal signal transmission and reception in the case where both the transmitter and the receiver are constituted by the facsimile apparatus of this embodiment and a telephone reservation is made after transmitting the image signal. In Fig. 1b, the receiver side outputs a CED signal and then a G signal indicating the reception mode, and after receiving the G signal, the transmitter side outputs a GC*A,
Emit B signal (signal indicating that the original is A4 size or B4 size). After that, the receiver side receives CFR*A,
A B signal (a signal indicating that the recording paper is A4 size or B4 size) is output, and when the transmitter side receives this signal, the transmitter side recognizes that the other party's device (receiver) constitutes the facsimile device of this embodiment. I decided that PIX,
Sends each EOM signal. Next, the transmitter side
When the telephone reservation switch 10 shown in Figure A is pressed to make a telephone reservation, the transmitter side is connected to the receiver side.
GC after receiving MCF and following G signal
*Sends a D signal (a signal requesting a telephone response). This also requests the receiver to answer the phone.
A CFR*D signal is sent, and then a pseudo-bell tone (a ringing tone emitted from a speaker, which will be described later) is sounded on both the transmitter and receiver sides. In addition, in the explanation of Figure 1b, the original size is A4 size and the recording paper size is A4 size.
or B4 size, the transmitter side sends an A4 size image signal, and the document size is B4 size and the recording paper size is
In the case of A4 size, the transmitter side reduces and converts the image information read in B4 size to an A4 size image signal and sends it out. The side sends out a B4 size image signal. FIG. 1c shows the contents of tonal signal transmission and reception in the case where both the transmitter and the receiver are constructed of the facsimile apparatus of this embodiment, and the process is normally terminated after transmitting the image signal. In FIG. 1c, the part before the GC*D signal sent by the transmitter side is not shown to avoid duplication, but
This is common to FIG. 1b. When the receiver side receives the MCF and the following G signal as shown in FIG. 1b, the transmitter side sends out the GC*C signal (normal completion signal) shown in FIG. 1c. The GC*C signal is sent when the GC*A or GC*B signal representing the size of the document and the GC*D signal representing the telephone reservation are not set. Subsequently, if the receiver side issues a CFR*C signal (a signal indicating normal completion), the transmission of the tonal signal is terminated, and if the receiver side issues a CFR*D signal (a signal requesting a telephone reservation), then The above-mentioned pseudo-bell sound sounds and both parties can talk. FIG. 1d shows the contents of tonal signal transmission and reception when the transmitter is the facsimile machine of this embodiment and the receiver is a normal G machine. In Fig. 1d, when the receiver side outputs the CED signal and subsequently outputs the G signal, the transmitter side receives the G signal and then the GC*A, B
give a signal. After that, the receiver sends the G signal again, and when the transmitter receives this, the transmitter determines that the other device (receiver) is a normal G signal.
Sends GC, LCS, and PH signals. Thereafter, tonal signals are exchanged in the same manner as in the case of G aircrafts shown in FIG. 1a. Figures 2a and 2b show an embodiment of the facsimile apparatus of the present invention, where Figure 2a shows the transmitter's electric circuit and Figure 2b shows the receiver's electric circuit in blocks. It is something that Second
In Figure a, 1 is a document width detection circuit that detects the width of the document, 2 is a reading circuit that reads image information recorded on the document, and 3 is a circuit that performs modulation and demodulation.

4 is an NCU (Network Control Unit) that matches the transmission system between the device and the telephone line; 5 is a ringing signal generation circuit that generates a ringing signal; 6 is a speaker that makes the ringing signal sound;
7 is a tonal receiving circuit that receives a tonal signal;
8 is a tonal transmitting circuit that generates and sends a tonal signal; 9 is a call switch for calling the operator of the other party; 10 is a telephone reservation switch for reserving a call when the transmission of the image signal is completed; 11
1 is a switch for switching the telephone line to the facsimile device side for image signal transmission or the telephone side for passage; 12 is a telephone for making calls; 1
3 is a telephone line. Furthermore, in Figure 2b, 1
4 is an MCU, 15 is a calling signal generator, 16 is a speaker, 17 is a tonal receiving circuit, 18 is a tonal transmitting circuit, 19 is a MODEM, 20 is a recording device for recording a reproduced image according to the received image signal, 21 is a recording paper width detection circuit for detecting the width of recording paper, 22 is a changeover switch, 23 is a call switch, 24 is a telephone reservation switch, and 25 is a telephone set. Below, using the configurations shown in Figure 2 a and b, the first
The explanation will be given according to the transmission order shown in FIG. b. First, when the receiver side is called by the telephone 12, the receiver side receives the call from the line 13. This causes the NCU 14 to receive the calling signal CI (Calling signal CI) when the device is set to automatic reception.
Indicator) is generated, and the generated CI signal is sent to the tonal transmitting circuit 18. Tonal transmission circuit 1
8 is the called station confirmation signal CED in response to the paging signal CI.
Then, G aircraft confirmation signal G was generated,
It is sent to the line 13 via the NCU 14. The transmitter receives the G input from the line 13 via the NCU 4 and the tonal receiving circuit 7. Thereafter, the document width signal detected by the document width detection circuit 1 (signal for distinguishing between A4 size and B4 size) is sent to the reading unit 2.
and is sent to the tonal transmitting circuit 8. As a result, the tonal transmitting circuit 8 sends the tonal signal GC*A or GC*B shown in FIG. 1b to the line 1 via the NCU 4.
Send to 3. The tonal signal GC* (general term for GC*A to GC*D) and the tonal signal CFR* described below
(generic term for CFR*A to CFR*D) has contents, signal frequencies and durations as shown in Table 2.

*B is received and input to the tonal receiving circuit 17 via the NCU 14. The tonal receiving circuit 17 informs the recording unit 20 that when the signal GC*A is input, the size of the transmitted document is A4 size, and when the signal GC*B is input, the size of the transmitted document is B4 size. Let me know. On the other hand, the recording paper width detection circuit 21 is provided with a micro switch (not shown) to detect the recording paper width.
It detects whether the size is A4 or B4 and sends the signal to the recording section 20 and the tonal transmitting circuit 18. Then, the tonal transmitting circuit 18 sends a tonal signal CFR*A when the recording paper size is A4 size, and a tonal signal CFR*B when the recording paper size is B4 size to the line 13 via the NCU 14. In this way, both the transmitter and the receiver can know the width of the transmitted document and the width of the recording paper. If the receiver is of a different type from the facsimile machine of this embodiment, for example a general G standard machine, the procedure shown in FIG. 1d is followed. That is, in response to the tonal signal GC* specifying the transmission mode sent from the transmitter side, the receiver side again sends out the tonal signal G in G mode. Is the tonal signal received by the transmitter a G signal?
The tonal reception circuit 7 detects whether it is a CFR* signal and, in the case of CFR*, whether the recording paper size is A4 size or B4 size (that is, CFR*A or CFR*B). and informs the reading unit 2. If the receiver is a G machine, the reading unit 2 outputs the number of read bits in the main scanning direction and width scanning direction as equivalent to A4 size, regardless of the size of the transmitted document width (B4 size or A4 size). . For this reason, if the submitted manuscript
In the case of B4 size, the frequency of the reading clock of the reading section 2 is increased to read out information corresponding to the width of B4 size within the time required to read out information corresponding to the width of A4 size. Similarly, the objective can be achieved in the sub-scanning direction by increasing the feed speed per unit time by a sub-scanning means (not shown). Even if the receiver is the device of the present invention, the original to be sent is B4 size and the recording paper is
In the case of A4 size, the receiver reads information from the main scanning and sub-scanning directions using the same principle as in the case of the G machine, and outputs the information in a format equivalent to A4 size. As mentioned above, determine the status of the transmitter side and the status of the receiver side,
The image signal output from the reading section 2 is sent to MODEM3.
The signal is modulated by the NCU 4 and sent to the line 13. This image signal is received by the receiver and sent to the NCU14.
It is demodulated by MODEM19. MODEM1
The image signal demodulated in step 9 is input to the recording section 20 and recorded on recording paper (not shown). In the case of an advance call, the operation is as follows. When calling the receiver using the transmitter's telephone 12, the bell of the telephone 25 cannot ring if the receiver is set to automatic reception. In this case, the CI signal is sent from the NCU 14 of the receiver to the tonal transmitting circuit 18, and the CED signal and G signal are sent from the tonal transmitting circuit 18 to the NCU.
The signal is sent to line 13 via line 14. On the other hand, if the transmitter presses the call switch 9, a signal is sent.
GC*D is generated in the tonal transmitting circuit 8, and the NCU 4
It is sent to line 13 via . That is, if the transmitter presses the call switch 9 before receiving the G signal, which is before transmitting the image signal, the tonal transmitting circuit 8 transmits the signal GC*D to line 1 in response to the input of the switch 9.
Send to 3. The receiver side receives the signal from line 13.
When GC*D is received, it is received by the tonal receiving circuit 17 via the NCU 14, and the tonal transmitting circuit 18 is caused to send out a telephone response request signal CFR*D. In this way, when a request for a telephone response is detected on both the transmitter side and the receiver side, the respective speakers 6 and 16 are activated by the ringing signal outputted from the ringing signal generators 5 and 15 on both sides, and the ringing is performed. generate sound. When the operator hears the ringing tone output from the speaker, the operator turns the switch 1 on both sides.
1 and 22 to stop the ring tone, and at the same time, the changeover switches 11 and 22 switch the line from facsimile mode (picture signal) to telephone mode (talk) in NCU 4 and 14, so that telephone 1
You can make calls using 2 and 25. Furthermore, in the case of telephone reservation, the following operation is performed. First, when the operator on the transmitter side presses the telephone reservation switch 10 while transmitting the image signal of the transmission document, the NCU 4 receives the MCF signal and G signal sent from the receiver side after transmitting the image signal. This is then received by the tonal receiving circuit 7. As a result of the reception, the tonal receiving circuit 7 receives the tonal signal from the tonal transmitting circuit 8.
GC*D is generated, and this signal is sent to the line 13 via the NCU 4. That is, when an operator on the transmitting side presses the telephone reservation switch 10 while the image signal is being transmitted, a telephone reservation is set in the tonal transmission circuit 8. When the telephone reservation is set, the tonal transmitting circuit 8 receives the MCF signal from the tonal receiving circuit 7.
In response to the reception of G, a tonal signal GC*D is generated and sent to the line 13. Thereafter, the process is the same as in the case of the advance phone call. In addition, telephone reservation switch 1
The telephone reservation by 0 is similarly terminated by this line switching, just as normal facsimile communication is terminated by switching the telephone line 13 to the telephone side. In addition, if the operator on the receiver side presses the telephone reservation switch 24 while receiving and recording an image signal as shown in FIG. 7 receives the signal and causes the tonal transmitting circuit 8 to send out the GC* signal. The receiver side sends out this GC* signal. On the receiver side, when the tonal receiving circuit 17 receives this GC* signal via the line 13 and the NCU 14, the tonal receiving circuit 17 receives the signal from the tonal transmitting circuit 18.
CFR*D is generated and this signal is sent to the line 13 via the NCU 14. The transmitter is line 13
When the signal CFR*D inputted to the tonal receiving circuit 7 via the NCU 4 is received, the tonal receiving circuit 7
operates the ringing signal generator 5 to generate a ringing tone from the speaker 6. At this time, the receiver side also operates the ringing signal generator 15 to generate a ringing tone from the speaker 16. The subsequent operation is the same as in the case of the advance telephone call described above. As described above, in the facsimile device of the present invention, if a command for a telephone call is issued before communicating an image signal, a telephone call can be made before the communication of an image signal, and if the command is issued during communication of an image signal, After completing the call for one page's worth of image signals, the call can be made. Therefore, it is possible to quickly shift to a telephone call without affecting the image.
