Structure of the Invention (1) Means for Solving the Problems In order to achieve the above object, the present invention provides a side branch type in which a branch pipe with a closed tip is connected in the middle of a gas passage pipe. In the silencer, the branch pipe has an elliptical cross section at a portion that should avoid contact with other equipment, a circular cross section at the remaining portion, and a cross-sectional area over its entire length. It is set approximately constant.

Furthermore, since the cross-sectional area of a branch pipe is approximately constant over its entire length, even though the cross-sectional shape of the branch pipe is partially changed as described above,
There is no risk that the silencing effect of the pipe will be particularly degraded.

It can be easily formed by simply flattening it.

The cross-sectional shape of a portion thereof, that is, the portion 2a which should avoid contact with other equipment, is formed into an elliptical shape as clearly shown in FIG. In addition, in the illustrated example, the above portion 2

Through experiments, the present inventors have found that even if the remaining cross-sectional shape is circular, if the cross-sectional area is approximately constant over the entire length, the same silencing effect as when the cross-sectional shape is constant circular can be obtained. I've confirmed it.

In this graph, a curve a shown by a solid line is a comparative example with a constant circular cross-sectional shape, and a curve b shown by a broken line is a comparative example according to the present invention. This is an application example of the present invention in which the cross-sectional area is substantially constant over the entire length, and a part of the cross-sectional shape is elliptical and the remaining cross-sectional shape is circular. As is clear from this result, even if the cross-sectional shape of the branch pipe is partially changed to an elliptical shape, as long as the cross-sectional area is substantially constant, the silencing effect is hardly affected.

はない。C. Effects of the Invention As described above, according to the present invention, in a side branch type silencer in which a branch pipe with a closed end is connected in the middle of a gas passage pipe, the branch pipe does not come into contact with other equipment. The cross-section of the part that should be avoided is elliptical, and the cross-section of the remaining part is circular, and the cross-sectional area is set to be approximately constant over the entire length, so the cross-sectional shape of the branch pipe is basically the same. By making the main part circular, and changing only the part that should avoid contact with other equipment into an elliptical shape, contact with the equipment can be easily avoided, and therefore the branch pipe can be routed freely. This increases the efficiency and facilitates the layout design. Furthermore, since the cross-sectional area of the branch pipe is approximately constant over its entire length, even though the cross-sectional shape of the branch pipe has been partially changed to an elliptical shape as described above, the noise-reducing effect of the pipe is exceptional. There is no risk of this decline.

Since it can be easily formed by simply flattening it, manufacturing and processing of branch pipes is easy.
