原子力発電所では最近まで使用済みの廃

をドラム缶に充填・圧縮すると、フイルタの四隅
がドラム缶内で立つた状態になつてそれ以上圧し
込めないため、無駄な空間が残る。特に最後のフ
イルタの場合は此の立ち上つた耳がドラム缶内に
収まつて蓋ができる程度の空間を残さざるを得な
かつた。それでも通常の廃棄物より充填効率が良
いためか、圧縮後無負荷にするとドラム缶の底が
膨らんで缶が傾斜し、つぎに円盤が下降した際、
ドラム缶の口径部に衝突して圧し潰したことがあ
つた。その他にも濾材を圧縮すると、原因はよく
わからないが、ドラム缶の口径が1%以上も変形
し蓋が嵌まらないという事故が発生し、濾材を直
接ドラム缶内で圧縮することには問題があるとい
うことがわかつた。さらに、フイルタ枠から濾材
を圧し抜き、ホツパを通じてそのままドラム缶に
充填・圧縮して能率を上げようとすると装置自体
の高さが非常に高くなり、発電所での作業場所が

取外した後、台板4より高く濾材の薄円板を持上

のため実用上充填数が制限されるということがな
くなつた。このため従来よりも30〜40%収容率が
高くなつた。さらには実作業の際、ドラム缶の傾
斜で缶の口径部を圧潰することにより、ドラム缶
を使用不能にするような損失も皆無になり、しか
も装置の高さが従来のものより1m以上も低くな
つたため、発電所内での作業場所を選択する必要
がなくなり何処ででも作業ができるようになつ
