[Detailed Description of the Invention] Industrial Application Field The present invention relates to seat skins constituting furniture or seats of aircraft, ships, automobiles, etc., and particularly for seats of motorcycles, boats, etc. that are likely to be exposed to water. The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a suitable seat skin.

Conventionally, with this type of sewing, rain or spilled water could enter the interior through the seams and moisten the cushion body such as polyurethane foam, deteriorating the cushioning properties or reducing the quality. The seat skin is attached by applying a sealant such as adhesive along the seams of the cushion or by laying a waterproof film such as PCV to cover the cushion body.

Problems to be Solved by the Invention However, when the sealant is applied along the seams, there is a risk that the sealant will solidify into a lump and give a feeling of a foreign body to the seater, and it is necessary to interpose a waterproof film. In some cases, the film is slippery and difficult to position, so it takes time and effort to cover the seat skin, and it also has the drawback of making the seat skin slippery and making the seating surface unstable. In addition, the waterproof film may slide up to the side surface of the seat and curl up, causing unevenness on the outer surface of the seat cover, making it unsightly in appearance.

Means for Solving the Problems In the method for manufacturing a seat skin according to the present invention, after the backing material is hung down and the skin material and wading material are sewn together, this sewing part is located on the inside. The hanging portion of the backing material is folded back to the back side of the backing material and applied flatly, and the folded portion is joined to the backing material in a watertight manner by welding or adhesive to seal the backing material.

Function In the seat skin manufactured in this way, the seam area created by sewing the skin material, wading material, and backing material together can be sealed watertight with the folded backing material that is drooped and welded. This prevents the intrusion of foreign objects, gives the seater a feeling of a foreign body, or impairs the stability of the seat surface.

This seat skin is formed as a trim cover by sewing together a skin material 1, a wading material 2, and a backing material 3 with threads 4. The skin material 1 includes woven fabrics, non-woven fabrics made of natural or synthetic fibers,
A knitted cloth or a synthetic resin film can be used, a urethane slab or the like can be used as the wadding material 2, and a synthetic resin film mainly made of waterproof and weldable material can be used as the backing material 3.

These three constituent materials are first co-stitched together. When sewing, the backing material 3 is sewn together with a slight droop within each sewing interval, for example, pressing rolls R, R,... It is sufficient to form hanging portions 3a, 3a, . . . on the lining material 3 and sew them together using sewing machine needles P, P, . . . (see Fig. 2). After sewing it, cut it to an appropriate size, insert each arm of the rake-shaped jig H (see Figure 3) into each hanging part 3a, 3a... and slide it. 3a... Pull it until it becomes flat. This tension is applied to the thread sewing parts 4a, 4a...
The hanging portions 3a, 3a... are folded in the direction to be located inside, and the folding margins 3a', 3a'..., which can be formed by the tension, are applied to the back surface of the lining material 3 (fourth
(see figure). After that, the folding margins 3a', 3a', . . . are joined to the backing material 3 in a watertight manner. For joining, it is best to apply welding using a high frequency welder, heater heating, etc.
and the backing material 3, and the folding margins 3a', 3
a′... can be welded by pressure using the upper die W 2 (see Figure 5).Instead of this welding, folding margins 3a′, 3
It is also possible to seal the thread-stitched portions 4a, 4a, etc. in a watertight manner by pasting a'... on the backing material 3 with an adhesive.

When manufacturing the seat skin in this way, the seams 4a, 4a...
a'... and each folding margin 3a', 3
By joining a'... in a watertight manner, the seam holes are sealed, completely preventing water from entering. Also, the uneven pattern that can be formed by thread sewing can be formed by folding margins 3a' and 3.
By joining a' to the backing material 3, it becomes possible to maintain tension. Therefore, this sheet skin is not only waterproof, but also has a large uneven pattern formed by the wading material 2 and can be formed with good shape retention.

Effects of the Invention As described above, according to the method for producing a seat skin according to the present invention, it is possible to easily produce a seat skin with good waterproof properties without using any other materials, and it also has decorative properties that make the seat surface look uncomfortable. This makes it possible to obtain a seat skin that can be used to construct a stable seat without any problems.
