Therefore, as a means for solving it, in recent years, a method has been proposed in which the trailing end of the preceding rolled material and the leading end of the trailing rolled material are joined, and the rolled material is continuously introduced into the rolling mill. There is.

However, in the above case, since only the peripheral portion of the joint is tack-welded by arc welding or the like due to a technical problem, temporary joining strength cannot be sufficiently obtained especially when the plate thickness is large. Also,
There is a problem that the joining becomes uncertain unless measures are taken such as removing the scale of the joining surface prior to joining.

In order to achieve the above object, the method of the present invention, when joining rolled materials, the leading and trailing end portions of the leading and trailing rolled materials to be joined are superposed on each other and sandwiched between a pair of pressure rolls. The rolled material is fitted in the guide groove formed in the roll, and the rolled material is slid relative to each other in the width direction by moving the crimp roll in the axial direction while crimping the overlapping portion at high temperature with the crimp roll. The scale layer on the joint surface is dug up by relative sliding, and the solid surfaces are securely joined by heat and pressure.

Further, the device of the present invention is provided with a crimping device for crimping the front and rear end portions of both rolled materials that are superposed on each other, with a sliding mechanism for sliding the front and rear end portions relative to each other in the width direction of the rolled material. The crimping device has a guide groove having substantially the same dimension as the width dimension of the rolled material, and the end portion of the rolled material is fitted into the guide groove. It is composed of a pair of pressure-bonding rolls that clamp the front and rear ends of the trailing rolled material from above and below, and the sliding mechanism is fitted in the guide groove of the pressure-bonding roll by moving the pressure-bonding roll in its axial direction. The rolling material is slid in the width direction together with the pressure-bonding rolls, and the above-mentioned method is carried out by the coordinated operation of the pressure-bonding device and the sliding mechanism.

An embodiment of the present invention will be described below with reference to FIGS. 1 and 2. In the drawing, 1 is a preceding rolled material, 2 is a trailing rolled material, and these rolled materials 1 and 2 are roughly rolled or conveyed from a continuous casting machine, and are indicated by an arrow (a) toward a finishing rolling machine. It is moving like this. Then, the joining device 3 of the present invention is installed at an appropriate position in the hot rolling line for conveying and moving the rolled materials 1 and 2 in this manner.

Therefore, prior to the description of the method, the outline of the joining device 3 will be first described. In the figure, reference numeral 4 denotes an upper pressure-bonding roll arranged at a finishing position from the transportation line of the rolled materials 1 and 2 and having a width substantially the same as the width of the rolled materials 1 and 2 and substantially the same as the thickness of the rolled materials 1 and 2. In the joining device 3, when the joining is not performed, the upper crimping roll 4 and the upper guide rolls 9 and 11 are in the raised position.
From this state, first, the preceding rolled material 1 is moved to the rear end portion 1a.
Is stopped on the lower pressure-bonding roll 5, and a support roll (not shown) is lifted to lift the rear end 1a. Further, the trailing rolled material 2 is stopped when the leading end portion 2a thereof reaches above the lower pressure bonding roll 5, and the leading and trailing end portions 1a and 2a of the rolled materials 1 and 2 are overlapped with each other to lower the support roll. Next, the upper pressure-bonding roll 4 is lowered by the pressing cylinder, and the upper guide rolls 9 and 11 are also lowered, and the upper pressure-bonding roll 4 and the groove 4 of the upper guide roll 11 are moved.
When the tip rolled material 1 is fitted into a and 11a, the upper pressure roll 4 and the front guide rolls 11 and 12 are displaced by, for example, a sliding cylinder 7 in the direction of the arrow (b), and the lower pressure roll 5 is moved. The rear guide rolls 9 and 10 are also displaced in the direction of the arrow (c) by the sliding cylinder 8 or the like, and the positions of the rolled materials 1 and 2 in the width direction are mutually displaced. Then, the upper pressure-bonding roll 4 is further lowered and the upper and lower pressure-bonding rolls 4 and 5 are pressure-bonded to the front and rear end portions 1a and 2a of the rolled materials 1 and 2 which are overlapped with each other. Until the rolled material 1 and the following rolled material 2 are on the same center line, the upper pressure-bonding roll 4 and the front guide roll 1
1 and 12 are displaced in the direction of the arrow (d), and the lower pressure-bonding roll 5 and the rear guide rolls 9 and 10 are displaced in the direction of the arrow (e). Then, the front and rear end portions 1a and 2a of the rolled materials 1 and 2 are joined by the heat of themselves and the force of the above-mentioned pressure bonding, but at that time, they relatively slide in the width direction, and by this sliding, The scale layers formed on the joint surfaces of the front and rear end portions 1a and 2a are dug up to bond the pure surfaces to each other. Therefore, it is not necessary to remove the scale layer on the joint surface as in the conventional case, and the joint surface is quickly and surely joined by pressure bonding and heat.

On the other hand, at the time when the joining is completed, the upper pressure-bonding roll 4 and the upper guide rolls 9 and 11 are raised and retracted, and the pressure-bonding force and the binding force to the rolled materials 1 and 2 are released.

By the way, in the above embodiment, both the rolled materials 1 and 2 were slid in the width direction and slid relative to each other, but either one was fixed and only the other was slid in the width direction to slid relative to each other. You may let me.

Further, when the temperature of the rolled materials 1 and 2 is low as in cold rolling, an injector of high temperature gas or fire is arranged near the pressure bonding rolls 4 and 5, and the high temperature gas or fire is ejected from this injector. The front and rear end portions 1a and 2a may be heated toward the surfaces to be joined by jetting.

[Effects of the Invention] The method of the present invention, as described above, the front and rear end portions of the leading and trailing rolled materials to be joined are superposed on each other and sandwiched between a pair of pressure rolls and formed on the pressure rolls. The rolled material is fitted in the guide groove, and the rolled material is moved in the width direction while the pressure is applied by the pressure roller at the overlapping portion at high temperature. Since the scale of the joint surface is dug up by the relative sliding and the solid surfaces are joined by heat and pressure bonding,
It is possible to quickly and surely bond both rolled materials with high bonding strength without removing the scale as in the conventional case. In particular, by inserting the rolled material into the guide groove of the pressure-bonding roll, there is no possibility of slipping with respect to the rolled material when the pressure-bonding roll is moved in the axial direction, and the rolled material can be reliably moved in the width direction. It can be slid relative to each other and reliable joining can be performed. In addition, the device of the present invention,
As a crimping device for crimping the front and rear ends of the trailing rolled material, a pair of crimping rolls having guide grooves of substantially the same size as the width dimension of the rolled material are adopted, and for rolling the rolled material in the width direction. By adopting a sliding mechanism that moves the crimping roll in its axial direction, the leading and trailing end portions of the preceding and following rolled material can be crimped reliably and the shaft can be securely operated by the linked operation of the crimping device and the sliding mechanism. It can be slid relative to each other, and is suitable for carrying out the above method.
