(Prior Art) A front glass that selectively absorbs a part of wavelengths is provided on the front surface of a cathode ray tube for display in order to improve contrast characteristics. The front glass has almost the same shape as the face plate shape of the cathode ray tube bulb, and the thickness is about 2.5.
A plate glass of ~ 5 mm, which is bonded to the face plate of a cathode ray tube bulb through a thermosetting resin having a strong adhesive force.

(Problems to be Solved by the Invention) The cathode ray tube having such a structure has a slight phenomenon that it is used in an environment with severe vibration or the front glass is broken during handling. The cause of this is that the distance between the front glass and the face plate is not uniform, so when the resin is heated and hardened and then returns to room temperature, there is a difference in the amount of shrinkage of the resin, that is, the amount of shrinkage around the face plate. It is conceivable that the stress becomes larger than the center and tensile stress remains on the surface of the windshield. As a countermeasure against this, a method of processing the inner surface of the front glass so as to match the shape of the face plate as shown in FIG. 2 of JP-A-57-105949 can be considered. However, when the glass is processed into such a shape, the problem of residual stress is solved to some extent, but this leads to an increase in the cost of the windshield and is not a sufficient method.

(Means for Solving Problems) According to the present invention, a plate-shaped front glass disposed on the front surface of a cathode ray tube bulb having a convex surface is held in a convex warped shape so as to face the convex surface of the cathode ray tube bulb. And a step of disposing the cathode ray tube bulb at a position apart from the front glass by a predetermined distance so that its convex surface faces the front glass, and a curable resin between the convex surface of the cathode ray tube valve and the front glass. And a step of releasing the holding state in which the front glass is warped in a convex shape after the curable resin is substantially cured, the method of manufacturing a cathode ray tube with a front glass.

(Function) According to the present invention, the front glass is held in a state of being warped in a convex shape, and after the curable resin is almost cured, the holding state is released, so that the product is in a state of being pulled by residual pulling on the surface of the front glass. The stress becomes small. As a result, the number of accidents in which the front glass breaks is reduced.

FIG. 1 shows a state in which the front glass is adhered to the jig (1). The front glass (2) is held at four peripheral portions by stoppers (3), and the central portion has a pressing screw (4).
Has been pushed up by. The amount of push-up at this time is appropriately selected, but the stress due to the deformation of the front glass (2) should be kept within the elastic limit of the glass.

FIG. 2 shows a state in which the cathode ray tube valve (5) is further mounted on the jig (1), and a thermosetting resin (6) having good transparency such as silicone is injected through the injection port (7). 130 ° C after injection
After heating for 30 minutes, remove the stopper (3) at the time when the resin (6) is almost cured. FIG. 3 is an enlarged view of the stopper (3) part. The stopper (3) is a combination of wedge-shaped rods (31) and (32). First, the rod (31) is removed, and then the rod (32). ) Is removed.

When the cathode ray tube with the front glass was taken out from the jig and the amount of deformation of the glass was measured, it was 0.02 mm. Thus, the tensile stress on the front glass surface is smaller than that of the conventional method.
