Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 産業上の利用分野 本発明は、熱可塑性プラスチック製成形体の束を端面側
で溶接する装置に関する。
従来の技術 西ドイツ国実用新案第8429157号明細書によれば、重な
つている押出成形されたプラスチック製中空板材の束か
ら成る熱交換器は、端面側が中空室相互の間に挿入され
た帯状ヒーターにより、付着している束に溶接される。
この操作法は例えば管のようなたいていの中空異形成形
体に適用するのは困難である。
西ドイツ国特許第2603615号明細書には、熱可塑性プラ
スチック製の管束を溶接する装置が記載されており、こ
の装置では、端面に圧着され、管に相応してリング状の
溝を有する2つの被加熱板材の間で管束が張設されてい
る。溝中に突入している管端部が溶融されかつ相互に溶
着する。しかしその際に低い圧力しか適用することがで
きない。それというのもそうでない場合には融液が管の
壁厚よりも大きい幅の溝から流出してしまうからであ
る。しかしながら適用し得る低圧は管端部の完全な溶接
を保障しない。
発明が解決しようとする問題点 本発明は、端面が1つの面に存在しかつ端面側の端部が
面状で相互に接している、任意の横断面を有する熱可塑
性プラスチック成形体の束を改良された方法ないしは改
良された装置により確実かつ完全に溶接するという課題
に基づいている。
問題点を解決するための手段 この課題の解決に当たり、本発明は加熱可能な溝を有す
る、束の端面に圧着し得る板材を備えた公知の装置から
出発し、その溝は束の横断面に相応して設けられており
かつ面状で相互に接している相応する成形体端部の厚さ
より広い幅を有する。この装置を作動させる際に、面状
で相互に接している端部を加熱されている溝中に加圧下
に押し込み、プラスチックを溶融させかつ相互に接して
いる端部から生じる融液の融合後に溝中で溶融温度より
低温に冷却する。
本発明により、圧着可能な板材は、溝の底がプラスチッ
クの溶融温度に又はそれ以上に加熱可能であるが、溝の
入口は底区域とは反対に作動中プラスチックの溶融温度
を下廻るように断熱性であるように構成されている。入
口区域への熱流動が非常に高くて、そこで溶融温度を上
廻つてしまう場合には入口区域に冷却装置を設けるべき
である。重要なことは、入口区域が全面的に断熱性であ
りかつ場合によつては冷却可能なことであり、即ちプラ
スチック成形体が溝中に突入しているそれぞれの個所で
ある。このことは、板材が成形体束の端面よりも小さい
場合に溝の側方開口部に関してもあてはまる。本発明に
よる溶接法では溝中に突入する成形体の端部を加圧する
と溝の加熱されている空間は融液で充填されかつ融液は
溝の入口の壁と成形体の突入している部分との間の空隙
中に流動し、ここで溶融温度より低温に冷却されかつ固
化する。
発明の効果 溝の入口の空隙中に流動しかつそこで固化した溶融物は
加熱されている溝空間を密閉する。この密閉が融液が溝
から流出するのを全面的に阻止する。それ故本発明によ
り、溝の加熱されている空間がプラスチック融液で満た
されかつ中空異形成形体の相互に接している端部が溝の
形状により規定される継目の形成下に相互に融着する圧
力を適用することができる。入口区域の断熱もしくは冷
却は、溝の底区域から流出する融液をそこで固化する作
用を有するばかりでなく、中空異形成形体の端部を溝の
この部分では溶融せず、それ故溝の底区域に圧力を付与
することができる。
発明の用途 本発明による方法及び装置は、非常に多種多様な目的に
好適である成形体の溶接束の製造に有用である。優れて
いる用途は、熱交換器又は蓄熱器の製造である。蓄熱器
として束を使用する際に、熱は流動する熱媒から吸収し
かつ次の操作段階で冷媒に付与する。この用途にとつ
て、溶接した束では端面方向から流動させることができ
る。溶接した束を、異なる温度の2つの流動媒体の間の
熱交換に使用する場合、少なくとも2つの相互に分離し
ている通路系が必要であり、一方は端面から流通しかつ
他方は束の側方から流通し得る。
代表的な蓄熱器−又は熱交換用成形体は断面積0.1〜6m2
及び長さ0.5〜10mを有する。しかし本発明は更に大きな
又は小さな束の製造も可能にする。
実施例 本発明は、一定の形状のプラスチック成形体の溶接に限
定されるものではない。2つ又はそれ以上の同じか又は
異なる形状の成形体を、それらの縁が少なくとも部分的
に面状に相互に接しかつ共通の縁(本明細書では“端
面”と表わす)を形成するように束に継ぎ合わせること
を可能にする限り、成形体の形状は任意である。薄壁の
成形体を相互に溶着すると優れている。
1つの操作工程で本発明により溶接すべき端面は1つの
面中に存在すべきであり、その面が平面であると有利だ
が、そうである必要はない。面は湾曲状、丸天井形又は
屈曲していてもよい。束は1個又は数個の端面で溶接し
ていてよい。同時に別々の工具であるいは連続的に溶着
することのできるその都度2つの端面が向かい合つてい
ると有利である。
成形体とは少なくともその長手延長部の主要な部におい
て同一の異形断面を有するものであり、かつ中空室1個
以上を有するようなものが優れている。そのような成形
体は押出により製造可能でありかつ押出方向に対して横
方向に端面を有する。束にしたすべての中空異形成形形
体が同じ長さを有すると有利であり、2つの等しい端面
を有する束が製造される。両方の端面を−一般的には同
時に−本発明により溶接すると有利である。
成形体をその端面の全周で相互に溶接することはいつも
必要とは限らず、時々、それぞれが強度に対する要件を
満足する溶接個所が得られる場合にそれで十分である。
本方法の実施可能性にとつて、端部が溶接されていない
個所で面状に相互に接しているか又は自由な区間を有し
ているかどうかは問題ではない。しかしながら、端部の
面状に相互に接してはいない部分を、溶接端面が無段階
の面中に存在するように相応する溝中で溶融させること
も有利なはずである。それ故、板材のすべての溝の底面
も1つの面中に存在すべきである。
中空異形成形体の溶接では、端面では中空室だけが開放
されていてかつ個々の中空異形成形体の相互間の間隙が
端面側から貫通していないことが望ましい。この場合に
は、中空異形成形体が端面側の端部のその全周で、周が
束の外面に位置しない限り相互に面状に接している必要
がある。例えば、中空異形端部は正六角形の形状を有し
かつハチの巣のように相互に接していてよい。2つの平
滑で平行な外壁と連結用ウエブとより成る中空板材は積
み重ねて、本発明により端面側で溶接することできる。
基本的にはこのような束には、異形断面が継ぎ合せられ
て閉じているすべての中空異形成形体が適している。
本発明の目的には、中空異形成形体の端部だけが面状に
相互に接しているだけで十分である。端面から離れた他
の区域では他の形状の断面を有していてよい。例えば、
主に円形の断面を有しかつ正六角形断面に拡がつている
端部を有する管を使うことができる。端部が面状に相互
に接している区域は溝の深さよりも若干長くする。管束
形熱交換器の製造には、拡大した端部を有する管を使う
と有利である。これにより束に継ぎ合せる際に拡がつて
いない管断面相互の間に流動可能な間隙が開放されたま
まで存在する。
熱可塑性プラスチックとしては室温では剛性で、範囲約
50〜300℃で溶融する成形材料が該当する。しかし本発
明はこの温度範囲に限定されてはいない。“溶融温度”
とは、プラスチックが、2つの別々に生成した融液が少
なくとも加圧下に融合して継ぎ目がないように固化する
成形体を形成する程度に可塑的に軟化する温度を表わ
す。異なるプラスチックの融液がこの前提条件を満足す
る場合、これらの異なるプラスチックからのプラスチッ
ク成形体を束に溶接することもできる。プラスチックは
溶融温度より低温では熱可塑的に軟化した状態で存在す
る。軟化温度より低温に冷却する際に初めて硬質状態
(ガラス状態)に移行する。好適なプラスチックの例と
しては、ポリエチレン、ポリプロピレン、ポリスチレ
ン、ポリ塩化ビニル、ポリアクリレート、ポリカーボネ
ート、ポリスルホン、ポリフエニレンオキシド、ポリエ
ーテルイミド、ポリエーテルエーテルケトン又はポリア
ミドが挙げられる。
次に本発明を添付図面の第1図〜第4図に基づいて中空
異形成形体束の溶接の例について詳説するが、この実施
形に限定されるものではない。
第1図において1は中空異形成形体束に圧着可能な、溝
2を備えた板材を表わす。溝2の底3は発熱体4又は熱
媒が流動し得る通路4によりプラスチックの溶融温度又
はそれ以上に加熱可能である。溝2の入口5は冷媒通路
6を介して冷却可能である。熱媒もしくは冷媒の供給管
は明らかであるので図示されていない。溶融温度を上廻
つて加熱可能な板材1の部分8は有利に鋼,アルミニウ
ム又は真チュウのような金属より成る。断熱部分9も同
様に金属より成つていてよい。それらの間に有利に断熱
材、例えば鉱物繊維フリース、場合により繊維又は織物
で補強されている熱安定性のプラスチック圧縮成形材又
はセラミック体からの層10が間挿されている。しばし
ば、断熱部分9自体がこの種の断熱材より成る場合には
それで十分である。
ポリフエニレンオキシド製の2つの端部11,12の溶接に
当たり、溝2の底3を240〜280℃に加熱しかつ入口5は
冷却により130℃より低い温度に保持する。一般に、入
口区域をプラスチックの軟化温度を下廻る温度に保持す
ると優れている。被加熱溝区域中のインサート力により
発生する圧力は例えば0.6〜100N/cm2である。それによ
り融液流13が溝2の底3から入口の間隙中に流れ、ここ
で融液流13は冷い入口5の壁と接触して固化する。加熱
されている溝空間中に突入している材料が均質に融合し
かつ溝空間に完全に満たされたら、加熱を中止しかつ材
料を溝中で溶融温度より低く、殊に軟化温度より低温に
冷却することができる。これが周囲空気への放熱によつ
ては迅速に十分には行なわれない場合、冷却を冷却系に
より促進することができる。そのために通路4又は特別
な冷媒通路14に冷媒を流動させることができる。冷却後
に、溶接部分を溝2から取り出すことができる。これは
若干楔形の断面の溝により簡単である。
第2図に図示した管束は六角形に拡がつている端部21を
有する円形管20 3個より集成されている。端部は区域
22で面状に相互に接している。壁厚23はこの区域では例
えば1〜8mm、区域24ではその半分の0.5〜4mmである。
溶接するに当たり、第2図による管束を第3図による板
材1中に押し込む。端部を溶接するための溝2は第4図
(第3図のIV−IV線による断面図)の入口区域26におい
て壁厚23よりも大きな幅を有しているが、溝底方向にお
いては壁厚23に相応する幅か又は狭い幅になつている。
周縁溝27は、外壁が溶接すべき区域と同じ平面28上に位
置するように溶融するためだけに使われる。
基本的に、本方法を実施するには1つの板材1で十分で
ある。しかし管束の両端面を2つの板材1で同時に溶接
すると優れている。これらの板材を相互に平行に、端部
が溝中に押し込まれる距離だけ相互に接近移動させる。
そのために、材料の少なくとも一方を移動させかつ溶接
に必要な圧力を発生させるシフト装置を使うと有利であ
る。板材は平行に移動可能であるように支持台上に設け
られており、殊に、この支持台は溶接工程の前後に束を
収容するためのホールダーを支持している。

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項1】端面が1つの面中に存在しかつ端面側の端
    部が面状で相互に接している熱可塑性プラスチック製成
    形体の束を端面側で溶接する装置であって、束の端面に
    圧着可能で、加熱−及び冷却可能な、溝が設けられてい
    る板材を包含し、その際に溝が束の端面の断面に相応し
    て設けられており、かつ溝中に押し込まれる面状で相互
    に接している端部の厚さより大きい幅を有する前記の装
    置において、溝の底がプラスチックの溶融温度に又はそ
    れ以上に加熱可能でありかつ溝の入口が全面的に底区域
    から断熱されていることを特徴とする熱可塑性プラスチ
    ック製成形体の束を端面側で溶接するための装置。
  2. 【請求項2】溝の入口区域に冷却装置が設けられている
    特許請求の範囲第1項記載の装置。
  3. 【請求項3】溝の入口区域が断熱材料からなる特許請求
    の範囲第1項記載の装置。
  4. 【請求項4】束の両方の端面を同時に溶接するために、
    端面に圧着可能な、対向して配置されている2つの板材

    か1項記載の装置。
