vocaloid (countable and uncountable, plural vocaloids)

1. (uncountable) Music created using voice synthesis software, such as Vocaloid.
2. (countable, genericized trademark, sometimes proscribed)
   1. An artificial, digital singer created using voice synthesis software, often represented by a moe anthropomorphic (anime-like) avatar.

      Kasane Teto is my favorite vocaloid.

   2. A voice synthesis software voicebank, regardless of musicality and presentation.

      It was too expensive to hire voice actors for every employee training video, so now we use a vocaloid for the voiceover instead.
